We're already the laughingstock of college football. Might as well check the "battered wife syndrome" box too and accept Kiffin back because "he's a different person now".
I mean, setting football Xs and Os aside for a moment, there were some serious issues surrounding Kiffin the last time, and he was only in Knoxville for like 11 months. Off the top of my head, there was:
- the hostess gate scandal
- his 1st recruiting class completely disintegrated. In fact, maybe the only worthwhile long time contributor from that class was Daniel Hood, who had a MAJOR red flag coming in (to his credit was completely clean his entire time at UT as far as I know). The rest of the class either left, didn't pan out, or ended up in prison.
- he thought it was wise to needle the SEC office to the point where they were publicly reprimanding him
- someone correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't it heavily speculated (or maybe proven) that he wrecked his vehicle with it being highly likely that alcohol was involved?
Do you guys really think he's grown up? Or maybe he seems like a good fit for us now in this moment as an "us against the world" arrogant mindset? I agree he brings a lot to the table in terms of offensive coaching. Outside of that...count me out.
