Posted this in a different thread, but pasting here for reference:

Both g5 teams were effectively auto bids. They're required to take the 5 highest ranked conference champs, but with Duke upsetting UVA that didn't include the ACC champ.

I'm assuming when the leagues agreed to this format they didn't expect to have the ACC champ be a 5 loss team.

Miami is in as an at-large not as the ACC champ, although I suspect the committee inflated their rank to make sure someone from the ACC got in.

One of the best of the year.
The Vandy flip was GREAT !!!

Can't wait to see if Matt Mitchel does on for the CFP selection - his entire bit this season has been based on SEC getting 5 teams in the playoff.

They should have had Notre Dame and Alabama sitting side-by-side with a ticket sticking out of Notre Dame’s bag. Alabama steals the ticket and gets on the train. Then Notre Dame goes to get on and can’t find his ticket. Conductor might even say “So you are still ranked 8th after that butt whipping?”
