nothing we havent seen before, but good read. it kind of seems like they are saying that they cant create a rule/punishment until someone breaks the unwritten rule. kind of like when a law is written, like you cant have sex with an alligator.. because someone tried

The sex life of Floridians takes a nose dive to a law like that.

I'm curious in how they handle this - both the SEC and NCAA. Writing a rule after the fact (after Butch closes the deal) is one thing but ruling on some unspecified detail of a written rule is another. The NCAA is notorious for doing this sort of thing which is why its credibility is in the sewer.

"Well the rule does not actually state this but it is IMPLIED that this action taken by the University of Tennessee cannot be permitted in a single season and will count against them in the subsequent season."

Politics. Butch (pushing this) could be the guy that sends the NCAA over the edge. If he does, he will be a hero in the eyes of many.

Just have to hope CBJ and staff don't cross the line with trying to over sign and then it kills the 2015 class. Knowing the NCAA they will allow a parent to collect 180 grand from a school for selling an athlete, but UT over signing would result in sanctions and the loss of 15 scholarships in 2015.

That rag is basically an extension of Dawgnation...which is understandable...it's funny reading the comments on recruiting stories...UGA fans hate this Carvell guy like Vol fans regard John Adams...But he's a basically unbiased objective type. When it became apparent, even after Richt's love poem, that UGA was out of the Josh Malone Derby, you should have read the Tennessee conspiracy theories following the Nate Brown article....Nate is a three star WR, committed to Mizzou, that balled out this year....Richt and Co is trying to get back with him after going boom or bust after Malone. Dawg fans think that with Malone, Pearson and really galling to them...Preston Williams going with Tennessee...the comments are always great, especially when Bama trolls weigh in :loco:

Something tells me this is not going to end well for Tennessee. The SEC and NCAA will team up on us and that can't be good. Remember the Bruce Pearl deal. Just a little lie and BOOM.

There may very well be loopholes regarding this issue but the intent of the rules are very plain. I would hate to see this staff labeled as cheaters as they bring us back from the dead. I just hope Butch knows what he's doing. The fact that the NCAA is responding to this issue "before" anything has happened makes me think it can't end very well for Tennessee. We'll soon find out.

I disagree. We aren't doing anything the NCAA doesn't know about. Our lawyers are talking to their lawyers. The NCAA won't be surprised by what we ultimately do. Now, they may not like it, and they may close some loopholes soon, but it won't be anything the NCAA will try and punish us for.

A loophole is not against the rules. There's no rule yet that says you can't do what TN might be doing. TN may do it this year and then they write in rules to close those loopholes. However, I don't see how they can punish UT for something that isn't against the current rules.

I applaud CBJ if he's trying to take advantage of a loophole. Why not take advantage of it now before their are rules written that do not allow it?

Someone should remind those salty UGA fans how many they signed last year.

Here 'tis:

What a bunch of hypocritical UGA fans. Tell me again how many UGA signed last year? UGA is no different than every other football factory across the country.

A Loophole can't be changed until next year. The angle of singing guys before December 1st we can't be penalized for.

The blue shirt thing worries me greatly. The NCAA will come in stronger than an IRS audit looking for anything to try to catch us violating that rule. IMO I hope we don't use the blue shirt for that reason

Talk about a bunch of old bitties.

Jones has a plan and you can rest assured our AD is abreast of it. That kind of recruiting doesn't go on unchecked.

Worry about more important things like how they get those ships in a bottle.
