SEC Recruiting Rankings versus Wins....

Which is why recruiting the top players really makes a difference, on the field, and with perception.

Perception doesn't win games. Winning games defines perception.

That said, UT has their potential version of Cam this year in Hunter-Rogers-CP-Bray. They aren't one guy obviously but the explosive potential he had is there.

Do you now accept that your recruiting can be middling then you pick up a few stars that fit your system and make you "elite"?

Arkansas is a real wild card in all this...look at their last 3-4 years and what they have done.

I think this interm coach is going to struggle.

Look at the first column in the table below. It's basically a sum of the "letters" the team earned prior to the start of last season. Arkansas had the most experienced team in the SEC last year. Even with Petrino, they were going to struggle. You just don't replace that kind of experience (especially recruiting the way they do) without issues.

Rankings matter and have a direct correlation to wins. Cleary, there are anomalies, busts, and surprises (like AU in '10, Boise St., and Randall Cobb who has been mentioned 10 thousand times in these types of discussions). Nevertheless, if you are rational you would have the ability to realize, although not perfect, it is a very good indication of success in what does matter... Wins.

People saying otherwise are only trying to make themselves feel better about and justify our mediocre recruiting. Also, it could/should get much better with a good season.

No, successful coaches bring in talent. Rivals guys have repeatedly said they don't consider offer list.

Maybe you should read through the Ben Bradley thread and see how true that actually is. If Perroni says he's never seen any of the kid's film but already knows what his rating will be, I'd like to know what else it's being based on.

As long as u recruit top 15 classes, have a goodsolidcoaching staff and have a full roster (to keep experience) you can win an win consistently.( I.e Va Tech)

IMO Scout > 247> Rivals > ESPN > nothing

Winning in the ACC ain't winning in the SEC. A top 15 class probably gets you a 2 or 3 ranked class in the ACC and in the SEC it is a 7 or 8 ranking. Big difference.
