Another night of programming of films of football games played 25 yrs ago instead of basketball games played tonight.

I guess Ky didn't have a game. Does this goofy SOB as a commissioner realize 13 other teams play basketball? Maybe, just maybe televising live games instead of highlights of Gene Stallings MIGHT help these schools recruit top players?

I know many of you love him but I think he's the ultimate empty suit.

They're on Watch ESPN if you have that? But I do agree with you, especially since they have SEC ALT channels as well.

SEC network is WAYYY too football heavy IMO. I can't understand making the conscious decision year after year to televise a game of the week from years past instead of a live basketball game. Every year our games get bumped to the alternate channel with poor presentation and too many dumb "Kevin Durant team shoe" sideline reports.

Then again this is the same network that shows 3 hours of Booger McFarland and Chris Doering's reactions and conversations as they watch prime time football on Saturday night.

I can't imagine ratings from 15-20 year old games being better than a live college basketball game but I can't think of any other reason for this stupidity.

I agree with you, but they are probably getting better ratings from the football first South. I know a lot of football fans who would rather watch any football game before watching a basketball game

I miss when I was a kid in the 90s/early 2000s and watched a lot of UK games on JP. A lot of memories sitting in the living room with Dad listening to the Daves. My Dad, who passed away recently, hated seeing the SECN created. I did too. It's about money and all that, but it doesn't feel the same as it used to.

edit: And no idea what kind of announcers they get now, but I'd listen to Verne and Gary every game rather than the clowns they have for some of the bottom tier matchups.

Did you hook up an HDMI cable from a laptop to the TV ? I havent tried that yet with SECN plus and was wondering if it works

I use Fire TV stick to stream WatchESPN app. You could use HDMI cable from laptop to tv - that does work.

Most smart tvs have Watch ESPN app already. My subscription is through Sling TV. My local cable provider did not provide subscription so I dumped cable.

I do not have a smart tv so I use Fire TV Stick on all three tvs - Thanksgiving week they were 29.99. Plus I received a free Fire TV Stick with my Sling TV subscription. I am sure they will go on sale again before Xmas.

Every UT game is streamed live now. I watch more Vols basketball now than ever. SECN and WatchESPN app have made that possible. I remember the days when we played 5 or 6 games a year on tv. I know I am old.

Best bet would be to get a Roku/Apple TV/Amazon Fire and leave it connected to TV. They all have the WatchESPN app. Less hassle connecting and disconnecting things.

So they suck because they do not have what you want. So funny.

Got a new smart tv on the way and I might get the firestick for the other tv --- I hope its easy to find the app on the smart tv -- how well does your sling work ? Some in FB threads said it wasnt perfect at times -- my Comcast contract is up in Jan and if they dont give a decent deal I wont keep them -- since I live in Illinois I have to get the top tier package to get the SECN

No, they suck cause they chose to show a program that has been shown multiple times already in the last week instead of any one of several live basketball games being played that evening. They did broadcast a multiple hour pregame show Saturday instead of a number of SEC hoops games.

Now, as I pointed out, Ky plays Val on Thursday night and of course the SECN is there. live and in living color, but Vandy, Tennessee, Arkansas and other bb programs aren't getting their games broadcast tonight.

The SEC wonders why their men's basketball product is below levels of all of the other Power5 conferences and below other mid-major conferences. Maybe, just maybe, the pitiful TV coverage you give other conference teams not named Kentucky just might be a reason....

I can't think of the bald headed Private Pyle look alike's name that did the main announcing last night but I thought he did a credible job in juxtaposition to Steve Hamer's Captain Obvious analysis.

No, I used my amazon fire stick that is on my tv. It's almost just exactly like watching cable IMO, except a little better IMO. You don't have to use only an amazon fire stick, you can use roku, fire tv, apple tv, chromecast, or if your tv is a smart tv, you can use it directly to your tv.

I think that's also reflected by local media and school's administrations in general. I have complained to the writers at the KNS and to The Sports Source numerous times about lack of respect for basketball and lack of coverage. If we are to have a top notch BB team it needs to be reflected/promoted/respected by local media and the administration. Its a strong indication when we don't get it. I have received minimal feed back from them when I contact them and mostly its a "do not care" attitude. Football is king to them.

I've got no complaint with the Watch ESPN app. Works great if you have a decent internet connection. I use a regular ROKU player.

All of those games were broadcasted via watch espn. With watch espn, you can find just about any and every bb or football game that is played on the espn family. For a sports fan who wants to watch games at home, it is probably the greatest time ever to be alive.

It is an excellent service IMO. I cant remember the last time I have watched something directly from espn cable tv. Heck, I even use the CBS sports app and the Fox sports app for SEC games and those outside of the SEC.

I was able to watch via the ESPN app on XBox One, so I at least got to see it on my big TV; but being streaming it was also pretty delayed. I actually got the final score notification on my phone with about 1:00 left in the game. I mean no big deal since we were up 40 but still.

What really disappoints me is I know that 2 years ago when the SECN started, they showed a LOT more early season basketball games. Almost all of our games were on SECN itself and not SECN+. I don't know if it became a cost thing (seriously doubt they are hurting for money) or if they are just really trying to push people to use their internet services, but I'd much rather watch on the actual network or alternate channel.
