One of the scenarios that is being discussed is moving into 4 sections.

Top 2 teams play in SECCG regardless of division

Pod A would play Pod B one year, Pod C next year, then Pod D or any variation, that way you play every team at least once every 3 years. Which team in each pod not set, but could look similar. Might exchange a team from each pod.

Tennessee permanent rival likely Kentucky

A: Tennessee Alabama Auburn Vanderbilt
B: Florida Georgia Kentucky South Carolina
C: LSU Miss St Texas A&M Mississippi
D: Texas Oklahoma Missouri Arkansas

Which teams would you switch? Would you like this format?

Feels like we should be in B instead of KY

You really think the Auburn-Georgia game is going away?
No, Auburn would be Georgia permanent rival in that scenario. You would have 3 games against your division, 4 against a different pod, and then your ‘rival’ game. In this model tho, they are thinking 9 game conference schedule so you would have one more random game.

How about this?
A. Tn, Ky, Vandy, SC
B. Bama, Auburn, Ga, Fla
others remain the same
One could justify the savings in travel cost

I'll just wait and let the elite self-absorbed SEC commish, Birmingham mafia, and 3 or 4 teams lead and the other minions follow with their hand out. Just accept what's out of most people's control. In other words, hide & watch.

I hope not. I like the idea of two 8-team divisions with 2 rotating west opponents and 3 OOC opponents much more. Move Alabama and Auburn to the East and Mizzou to the West.
I like the idea of playing every team at least once in 3 years. That is the reason for having four pods. It would also be easier to add an additional four teams in the near future, which will likely happen if the ACC, Big 10, and the Pac 12 form an alliance.
Pretty sure that the B teams (at a minimum) would object to A’s softness.
I think we should be with SC, Georgia, and Florida. This evens out the competition and makes travel within the Pod all in the Eastern time zone.

Moving Bama and Auburn to the East with a 9 conference game schedule is so easy and makes so much sense that they will never do it. We are going to be stuck with this pod BS

Or move Ole Miss into the East and put OU and Texas in the West, if you’re going the two division route.

I have a really hard time giving the two new additions to the conference the (by far) easiest path.

Every time I look at another 4x4 pod proposal, I become a stronger fan of a 2x8 division format.

Yep. Play your other 7 division and. rotate 3 from the other side. That’s 10 conference games.

East:
Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee, South Carolina, Alabama, Auburn, Vanderbilt

West:
LSU, Ole Miss, Miss St, Arkansas, Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Missouri

The only real rivalry you break up is Alabama-LSU and that one doesn’t have a ton of history pre-Saban. And you actually RESTORE some great rivalries: Tennessee-Auburn, Alabama-Georgia, Texas-A&M, Arkansas-Texas, Auburn-Florida

This setup is actually perfect.

I’d be ok with that. I’d do away with the permanent rivalry teams tho. Just play your pod and rotate with the other teams.
