SEC Media Days. Which players should attend?

0% chance our coaches send a grad transfer or a QB.

He may not dude and that's fine. Last I checked it was a message board and everyone was throwing out names. I don't care if it's Chryst, JG, Chandler or a walk on. I was throwing out other names that hasn't been mentioned yet. The fact that you and your side girl K-Town feel the need to defend JG, especially when anything positive is said about any other QB is really unhealthy. Believe it or not there are other players and QB's on our roster besides one who lost every SEC game he started last yr and the non conference game he won he got knocked out of the game before halftime. Y'all's obsession is creepy enough without knowing you feel the need to argue against any opinion I post or anybody else who isn't on y'all's creeper JG van. Hell atleast try to think outside the box and pull for some other players to do well also.

Calm down. It is a message board and it stands to reason it'd be fine to respond with how likely we think each other's picks are.

I'm not sold on JG either. I've got no problem with Chryst and could see him being our guy this year. I would like to see JG beat out Chryst and be the guy because that sets us up better for 2019, but I'm not sure he'll be able to do that and I'm not hellbent on him being our QB. I've stated that ad nauseum.

I've stated plenty of times that there are things I think Chryst does better than JG. I just think some of the arguments people give for why he'll win the job aren't very good (him winning 11 games at Stanford is one of the most misleading things I see getting mentioned over and over and it's annoying) and I don't think he'll be much more than a game manager for us if he does win the job. That's fine, though. I could see things working out this season where a game manager is just what we need to beat some teams like UK and Vandy and get back to a bowl.

I don't expect them to bring JG to media days, either FWIW. That's why I said 0% chance they bring a QB. They're not going to give an unofficial endorsement like that to one of our QBs before camp starts.

Won't happen. Nobody who's been on campus less than one semester will be at media days.

You may be right, but think he would be a good Sr representative to have. But he wouldn't not bring a player, just because they had just transferred in a month ago and was concerned what another player at the same position would think. The coddling and babying of players isn't happening with JP and this staff. He would be a very popular interview because of the transfer from the Pac 12 to the SEC. Fact is, there's very little leadership from guys who were here last season. Phillips,Richmond,Tuttle, Hall,Taylor,Sapp, Bituli, DK Jr, Abernathy and Brandon Johnson aren't bad options.Chryst, London, Kennedy and a few other's need to instill that player leadership. Smith would be too, but doubt Pruitt brings a Soph. Also not wanting to put Smith in the situation to get hounded by the media. Pruitt will bring the 3 guys he knows will represent TN the right way, and not look out of place talking to the media. He will bring the 3 he wants and hurt feelings won't keep him from doing that. Think he has already made it known, he's gonna do it his way and his way only. Doubt he would bring Jennings, Warrior or TK Jr. I had forgotten about Kelly's hospital incident, so he's probably not an option either.

They're not going to reward any players who haven't put in the work in practice yet. That has nothing to do with coddling or babying players. Pruitt went out of his way to avoid praising or criticizing any players during spring because he wanted them all to feel like they had an even playing field for an open competition to earn playing time. Bringing along someone who just enrolled would be inconsistent with that. You're right that he'll bring who he wants. 0% chance he wants to bring Chryst or London. Wouldn't surprise me if he does want to bring Kennedy just because he likely knows him better than many other players on the squad right now. He won't bring him though.

As for the leadership thing: leadership is developed through the players working and practicing together, not a coach bringing them to media days. Sending Chryst or London down to Atlanta for a few days to talk to the media won't instill leadership any more than leaving them in Knoxville to go to class, study film, and work out with the rest of the team would.

Our 3 likely come from the guys you listed as not bad options. I'd imagine Pruitt brings along guys he felt comfortable letting talk to the media during the spring (one of whom was Warrior, btw). Abernathy would make sense as well, though. All class, comes from a great family, Sr, all that jazz.

I know how leadership is earned and developed. I wasn't saying he was taking guys to learn how to be leaders.I m saying you send 3 guys who have shown it in their career's or since Pruitt has been around them. I do agree with you that he probably won't take anyone who wasn't atleast here here during the spring. I was just throwing out names like everyone else was but some other potential options. I just said neither of the 3 would be bad options, especially Chryst, just because of how well spoken he is.H e looks comfortable in his interview's, but that's also from being allowed to do so by Shaw. They only go over for the day and come back the same day. Atleast UT always did when it was in Hoover, not sure if things are done differently now that it's in Atlanta.

He may not have an issue with Warrior doing it, especially since that incident didn't happen under JP's watch. Bing a defensive HC, he probably takes 2 Defensive players and 1 offensive player. Would imagine either Hall, Richmond, Brandon or Callaway would be the Offensive player then 2 of Warrior, Abernathy, Taylor, Tuttle, DK Jr, Bituli or Sapp. I don't remember who all he let talk to the media during the spring.

Thank the Lord for media days. It’s been a long drought without football and to me media days marks the period of time till game one that is survivable. In the last few weeks even message board friends cannibalize it’s own members out of frustration. From here on we can talk football as more info will become available thank goodness.

1. The topic of the thread is who should attend media days. Most people hear are saying who they think should go, not throwing any name that flirts across their mind out there for the hell of it.

2. If Kennedy, Chryst, and London had been on campus for multiple years and if there wasn’t an ongoing QB battle, they wouldn’t be bad options. But that isn’t the case.

3. Adding ‘s to a noun makes is possessive, not plural.

Well last time I checked, we're on a message board and if I wanna throw out any current player I can do so. If that of all things was something you found ridiculous, then god knows what you think of some of the more off the wall $hit that gets posted on here. Your opinion on anything I say is as irrelevant as any opinion I have on what you say. You seem to hold your opinion in high regard and think the rest of us should also. You throw out names you want and focus less on what I say if you're gonna bask everything I post. I assure you that your opinion isn't held in more higher regard than anybody else. It's fine to disagree, we all have our own opinion and I enjoy hearing other posters side of things. But do it without being a little B. I haven't attacked your thoughts on it and have even agreed with a good bit of it. Dammit man, I thought these Bammer's I'm surrounded by daily were argumentative and opinionated. You could give them a good run for their money.

Btw, I never said any of them should come, I said they were upperclassmen options and I also listed another 10+ players. Next time, I'll list everyone on the roster and you can have at it.

Oh and since you like to correct typing and sentence mistake s, you should have yours straight first. Learn how to use the words here and hear. Make sure you are 100% error free, before calling out anybody else.

I had not understood your overt paranoia until I looked back on your posts in this thread so I apologize for taking liberties in comment with your condition.

It is clear as a bright Summer's Day that those who oppose your inflexibilities do so mainly because they, and I, disagree with your premises for evidences and, as I mentioned, give you little to no credence to your posting history. That is not going to change and IMHO your credibility is accelerating quickly downward on a steeply declining slope.

I am not suggesting that you discontinue posting, why should I?, you are going to doggedly pursue your untenable positions further eroding what little respect you have left and "win the day" in your own mind.

As this thread digresses, in the end, the only trophy claimed will have been one that will not include the conversion of one, single person of stature to your side. In effect, you will have gained no ground, lost substantial footing, and then where will you be?

It is far better to have sough the credibility of Members, gained it, than to have dug yourself a useless hole tooled by self-derision from which you now find it impossible to extricate yourself.

FYI

I got through the first 2 lines and that told me all I needed to know. If you had read all my posts, you will see I I have agreed numerous times and saw that person's side of things. I'm Really not concerned about my credibility with some random posters. You aren't that important for me to have those worries. I do admit there's a few posters in particular I have had many disagreements with but those same ones have done that with half of Volnation.

You obviously seek and need approval and that's cool for you. But I definitely don't need it from people I haven't even met. I do like having normal conversations with fans, because I'm surrounded by Bammers. So this is the only way I can. But ones in particular who obsess over and stalk college kids is too much. I prefer to pull for whoever is on the field and not by their race. This is 2018, not the 1900's. But I do appreciate your..whatever that rant was and find what it is you're seeking on here! GBO!

Pruitt has only the players he has seen, on the field, to choose from.

"Well, it's going to be hard for me to gauge who could be a starter and who can't when there's thirty guys that wasn't on our team that didn't participate in the spring," Pruitt said.

If he decides that the safest course of action is to name 3 'known-by-him' seniors, who can speak with lucidity, this may be his best fallback position.
