SEC explores launching it's own TV Network.

the SEC should do that... the SEC is the best in everything and they should also seek moving to a higher league than Division 1

I don't know if it would work. Would the channel turn to be something like "pay per view"? I never particularly paid for watching Tennessee game in my life.

the Big 10 is doing it, and inevitably, the SEC will also do something similar......neither league will let the other out do each other.

and if the big 10 has a market for such a venture, surely the SEC does too.........

I bet it'd work. I mean, with all of the coaches shows that the SEC has, they could replay football games for those of us who don't get CSS, play a few more baseball games, basketball games, some softball games, tennis matches and have a full slate. Fill midnight - eight a.m. with infomercials and you're set. There's really not a sport that the SEC doesn't have a marquee team that someone will watch. Football and basketball are a given. UT in women's basketball; UGA in tennis, Vandy, USC, Arkansas in baseball; UT, UA, LSU in softball. Hell, I bet fans of good teams would watch track and field and swimming if they put it on there. And any time they put anything to do with Tennessee on there, I'd watch it.

It'll work, but I'd be surprised if it was on the same scale as the Big 10 network. They simply have bigger markets.

Lucky for me, UT is big enough that I get about every game that I need to watch.

I missed some of the small ones, but I got Cal, Florida, Georgia, LSU, USC, Arkansas, and Alabama.

get ready for SEC womens gymnastic and mens lacross.

Yeah that's kind of my feeling. If they could just narrow it down to what, oh, 90 percent of it's audience really want to see, which is b-ball and football, it'd be a smash.

The NFL is doing well covering football 24/7 as hard as I thought that would be. The SEC could be creative and serve up a lot less gymnastics, lacrosse, etc.. and show spring practice, game replays, etc...They could certainly make it a good channel.

Absent live coverage of the big two... football/basketball.. I don't really see how the venture would offer anything commercially viable. The things thus far mentioned that we might get, we already do get.

If there is a buck to be made, the SEC will certainly find it. Right now though, from my limited understanding, it doesn't make sense to me....

I know during football season, if they would replay the 6 conference games, one per night Sun-Fri. I would watch some of those on nights when I was home flipping channels.
