SEC Bowl Lineup

So if things end as they stand today, the conference holiday season would look something like this:

Auburn--BCS
LSU--BCS
Bama--Capitol One
Arkansas--Cotton
Florida--Outback
South Carolina--Gator
Mississippi St--Chick-fil-a
Liberty--Kentucky

Tennessee has to win against UK to become eligible, and if they do, I think Nashville is the destination. UGa has to win against Tech, and if they do, I think it is a toss-up as to who goes to Memphis or Birmingham between Georgia and Kentucky. The Iron Bowl and the SECCG could change Bama, Auburn, and SC around, too, but I think that is about as good a guess as you can make at this point.

Thoughts?

I think Florida drops to the Gator and SC goes to the Outback...but other than that, it looks about right.

I live in Nashville. This would be awesome!!! The Music City Bowl has come a long way. I plan on tailgating on the General Jackson and drinking some brew ha! C'mon Vols!:clapping:

Call me crazy if you like, but if Chick-Fil-A gets a choice between a 6-6 Tennessee team or a 7-5 (if Tenn beats Kentucky and Miss St loses to Miss) then I wont be shocked to see a Tennessee-Fla State or Tennessee-NC State.

They are about selling tickets, and Tennessee has always travelled great to that bowl.

Does the General Jackson even have a tailgate? Or would it be called paddlewheeling, I know lame but just saying......

Thats pretty funny. The Bowl sells Ticket packages that include a pre-game tailgate party on The G-Jack. All beer you can drink with Dinner and live entertainment. If you drink to much beer and get sick you can feed the fish. I went last year. It was so much fun.

that does sound like fun. I have been on the General several times and enjoyed it. I bet it would be alot more fun though with my vol family clad in orange on gameday.

The SEC Bowl contracts don't allow a bowl to select a 6-6 team over a 7-5 team.

Thanks for the info, I was under a misconception based on what someone had previously told me.

I thought that the bowl could select the next best team in the SEC East/West.

Meaning if Miss St. was the next best team and Tennessee/UGA was the next best on the east side (tied at 3-5 conference and 6-6 overall)

Then they could choose any of those 3 teams based on the contract.

Kentucky has said they would prefer a non-Tennessee bowl having done the Music City and Liberty several times.

Does the SEC record play a part at all? If you go 7-5, but have a worse SEC record than a 6-6 team, does it matter?

I'm sorry but no way we go to the Chick-Fil-A Bowl, especially given our luck in that bowl. I don't want to step foot in the Georgia Dome unless we're playing for an SEC Championship.

not true, the bowls are free to choose who they went. See last's year joke and debacle of Auburn getting the Outback bowl.....

No, they are not.

The bowls in certain slots are allowed to select who they want based on their position. There are also conditions. The Capital One selects before the Outback and Cotton, but is obligated to take the SEC Championship Game loser at least once every three years.

When the NCAA increased the schedule to allow for a 12 game regular season, they also approved for 6-6 teams to be bowl eligible, when previously a winning record had been required. A condition of that ruling, however, was that bowls could not select conference teams with a 6-6 record over teams with a winning record. The NCAA mandated that be written into conference bowl agreements, and it is.
