Nothing more than thinking out loud but, what if for instance the SEC tells Tenn or Ga to cancel their ooc game with OU and Tenn says No? What authority does the SEC have if their members refuse or ignore the league office? It’s the SEC not the NCAA

I don't know for sure, but I would think the SEC has more authority than the NCAA when it comes to things like this.
We Shirley wouldn’t want to make commissioner Sankey and all of the Bama grads in the SEC Office in Birmingham mad at UT would we? They’ve always been so fair to the Vols and, heck, gone out of their way to help our school on so many occasions.
dripping sarcasm ….where’s the blue font….🙅🙅🙅🙅🙅🙅🙅🙅🙅🙅🙅🙅

If there is a contract that will be broken... The SEC is on the hook for the buyout. That much I know for sure.

If Tennessee and OU agree to keep it, the game would be played and it could be ignored for calculating SEC standings.

the SEC doesn’t want to deal with different teams having different numbers of conference games.

The SEC has more authority than the NCAA at present over both players and institutions because the conferences individually are not subject to the Antitrust concerns that have crippled the NCAA. There is probably an escape clause in the schools' contracts for the conference requiring reschedule as a force majeure. The SEC as a practical matter probably did the schools a favor and saved them a bunch of money.

The SEC has the power schedule Marc Curles to officiate every UT game from now to the end of eternity...

The schools were fine with it. Not having the ability to have the return game caused some issues with guarantee money and could have meant that someone went to a school in back to be years.
