SEC’s Notes on the New Scheduling Format and the 2026-2029 Opponents

Of note at the bottom of page two is a statement that there could be some opponents who play each other home or away in back-to-back years. This means we could be making a trip back to Tuscaloosa or Lexington in 2026 or we could host Vandy a second consecutive year. Hopefully not, but someone’s going to have to do it.

Are they going to announce the schedule of ALL the teams we are going to play or just the "rivalries" that are our permanent opponents.

All opponents will be revealed for every team's 2026 schedule.
So if we get Texas next year (which I think is very likely) do we skip them in 2027 and then get them again in 2028? Basically what I’m asking is, has it been established that we get 6 completely different teams from year to year or if we host LSU next season we go there the following year?

It sort of sounds like it to some degree. The only information we have is that each SEC team will play every other SEC team once every two years and twice every four years.

Whether that means it’s a full flip each year or some of those teams would be played back-to-back (like between year 2 and year 3 and I guess year 4 and year 1) remains to be seen.
