Hey y'all, I'm going to be stationed in Little Rock, AR this football season and I'll most likely only be able to make it to the UT/Ole Miss game in Oxford. I've heard about the Grove and tailgating, but I'm looking for tickets and I don't know what section to look for seats. I'll be coming down by myself (sad to say my wife is a Bamer graduate and fan) so I don't want to get stuck in the middle of some Hoddy Toddy prepsters. Any information on visiting sections at Vaught-Hemmingway would be greatly appreciated...thanks

All I see are home games...can you buy the visiting games from that link at all?

You can always call 800-332-VOLS next week and I'm sure they can give you the date when the away tickets go on sale. Or email them at volstix@utk.edu

Go to Ole Miss's website, and buy em there, you might be stuck in the middle of some Rebel fans, but hey it will be a lot of fun. I will be there too.

i think this will be one of the safest games to go to this year. we have friendly connections Manning-wise i think. i mean, be glad you're not stationed in gainseville!

Call me a wuss, but this has a lot to do with why I chose this game as my one road game this year.

might as well do this in this thread. i grew up under one of the biggest ole miss fans in the world, and went there my freshman year, so here's some general information and advice for future reference.

the roads in oxford are small and usually extremely congested on game-days, so if you're planning on tailgating in the grove or parking anywhere close to the grove you might wanna try to get that out of the way early. otherwise, your party (or the driver) will get stuck parking and walking for 2 (or more) hours. and getting to the grove early is NOT a bad thing at all.

abners is a chicken spot in oxford and it is GREAT. i think that they have the best "special sauce" of all the college town chicken restaurants (zaxbys, sawyers, guthries, etc...). if you're planning a tailgate, abners can PUSH some chicken tenders quickly. their grilled tenders are scrumptious as hell.

you can't buy cold beer in the county, so make sure you bring a nice cooler and plenty of ice. although liquor is the much preferred beverage in the grove.

if you have to go to the bathroom you should probably start walking towards one as soon as you get the urge. there's some porta-potties around the grove, the UC, and the "Hotty Toddy Potty" but the line is usually ridiculous.

the girls in the grove are some of the hottest you will ever see in your life. so dress nicely and get your game up. i'm telling you, you will fall in love every 5 minutes with a different girl.

the grove is extremely fun and the grove-goers are very nice, so don't be afraid to ask for something or introduce yourself to anyone. you'll never see tents done up like this ever again.

the women can waste hours upon hours in the square at the little shops and what not. there's also really good eats in the square if you don't mind waiting on a table.

the bars close at 12.

if you're staying there for the weekend and you want some good late night junk food, ask about "chicken on a stick". it's brilliant.

I have not been to Vaught-Hemingway since they closed in the endzone, but when I went to a Tulane game on an away ticket we sat in Section J. It was hard to spot the rest of the Green Wave contingent, as they were few and far between that day!

DEFINITELY wear a collared shirt and some pressed khakis; preferably in Tennessee Orange! Don't forget a solo cup and a flask of Jack Black. You will be welcomed in the Grove, but ribbed in exchange for the food and drink. Great place to see a game!

Myself and 7 of my friends who will be freshmen at UT next year are going to make the trip down to the game as well. We will be in our orange in the Ole Miss student section.

I have been to the VHS a few times, just never to see the Vols play. It is definitely a good time. We always parked and tailgated out by the baseball stadium.

For anyone that hasn't been there, Oby's is some good eating too.

My best road game experience by far was to Ole Miss. Gamedays are exciting down there. We sat on about the 30yd line, Really good view but we were surrounded by ole miss fans.

I have to say I enjoyed the Swamp and Tiger Stadium a little more. Oxford is still a VERY fun place to go see a game/pre-game.

Mmm... Abner's chicken...

LSU always says this, but Ole Miss has REALLY never lost a party. They packed VHS and the Grove even when Orgeron was there.

I remember my first road trip to Ole Miss as a student. Be easy on the ladies. They are top quality as I am sure you are aware.

To be certain. If you see a girl standing up and smoking, she's a whore.

I was notified by the VP of KD there that Emily Post dictates sitting while smoking, and she had all her girls in line.

Their outfits: sundresses, mani-pedis, and Ray-Bans.

My outfit: Tulane Law t-shirt, shorts and flipflops.

I went with an Ole Miss friend, and he explained to everyone we met that I went to UT; they instantly warmed up to me. It's like I was a Southerner in disguise.

That is absolute BS. They didn't pack VHS at all. The packed the Grove, got drunk and said eff the game.
