9-3 would be an incredibly disappointing season if September goes like that.

Why does everyone think Alabama is going to beat us? I think we lose Georgia, Florida, or South Carolina before we lose that one

ViA, You are probably the most informed and one of the most reasonable guys around here. Can you tell me why people other than me are universally high on UF? Why do so many believe that they'll beat UT when at least 9 defensive players will make their first SEC start and many non-lettered back ups will play against SEC competition for the first time on D?

Besides that, they lost a ton of production on offense and while 4 of their OL's are All-SEC caliber, they'll possibly start a Fr in the other spot and only have two or 3 lettermen backing them up.

When you look at this game and look at match ups the way you do, what do you see that makes you think UF wins?

if we turn out to be better than last year, which we have a very good chance of, then u have to think we're gonna run the table because everyone else seems to have lost a lot this year

I hope for 14-0 but realistically:
@ California; Cal is ready for the Vols this time L 28-38
vs. Southern Miss; Miss will be tough, but VOls pull it out W 24-10
@ Florida; I am afraid to say that the Gators from the 90's are back L 21-24
vs. Arkansas State; Too much talent for State to handle as Vols roll W 41-7
vs. Georgia; Richt is 3-0 in Knoxville, but we nab the Dawgs this year W 31-21
@ Mississippi State; It is Miss. State people W 38-7
@ Alabama; Tide will be good, but not good enough W 17-14
vs. South Carolina; Watch out for this team as they will be tough; W 24-17
vs. Lafayette; Vols will have too much talent and depth W 34-14
Vs. Arkansas; This may be the 2nd best team in the West W 14-10
vs. Vanderbilt; Vandy will go bowling, but won't beat UT W 31-14
@ Kentucky; Vols will be playing for a trip to ATlanta; W 28-17

I'll be honest: I've flip flopped on the Florida game this offseason numerous times. I think if you search for the last thread like this, I had us beating Florida.

I see this team as 10-2 most likely, with 2 of the losses coming to a combo of the following: Georgia, FLorida, Alabama, South Carolina, and Arkansas. Honestly, UT could get lucky and go 4-1 in those games, and finish 11-1.

At some point I'll probably put out my predictions and have 2 losses being Alabama and Georgia, or something.

I actually think wehave an excellent chance of beating Florida. I think it being early gives our defense an advantage.

I am really scared about the California game.

I'm a little anxious, but I think in the end, they have very few advantages over us. They won't have a noise factor, because our guys have played in at least 6 louder places, maybe more.

Here are the advantages Cal will have:

Home game wrt travel time
WR >>>>>>>> our young DBs
Kicker

That's it. Seriously. Everything else is either a push or UT advantage. I might give a slight edge to Cal OL over ours for now, but the two don't line up against each other.

I agree with pretty much everything you said. I would take our OL against their front 7 over there OL against our front 7 anyday.

Yeah, I can buy 10-2. I can also buy 8-4. Until I see UT run the ball...and stop the run...I'll reserve judgement.

I'm still smoldering from those lofty projections and glowing pre-season reviews heading into the '05 season.

Once burned...

Go Vols.

I think I said this already, but with regard to the '06 season, and the way we got pushed around at the line.....the Air Force game was a sign.

It read "Can't stop the run".

We'll see what happens this year.

Go Vols.

7-5 and a bid to the Toilet Bowl. We could also very easily lose to South Carolina to go 6-6.
