So if it is KS for 2021
He has to fill out the staff,and what decent assistants are going to come to Knoxville on a one year deal?
Then you hire a new coach in the next off season.
He wants his staff,so blow up the KS staff.
A sh** ton more buy outs to be paided out

Sets up to look like KS is our guy unless they get a AD and a HC in here sooner than soon.

I think you can almost bank on that unless something major happens in the next week or so that speed up the process that probably going to be the deal for 2021

Doesn't seem likely Steel will remain HC for an entire year @ $450k. . . even @ interim. He'll probably be Interim for a month or 2 and receive the full $450k when the future HC is named.

I totally agree with you on this. If we don’t have an AD in place by the end of Weekend. Then KS is our coach. Then they won’t be able to get a good AD because the school won’t let him hire his own coach.

No he won’t. For the first time in forever we need a new coach and don’t have to pay the old one. This will give us the money actually pay for a Hugh quality established coach instead of having to go value shopping. Hopefully the new ad will take this approach and take advantage of these circumstances

That would be hard to do because a month or 2 from now would put us right at the start or spring practice or in the middle of that is why I think he is the guy in 2021 because of the timeline unless both hires A.D and HC happens inside the next 2 weeks.

Auburn is going to get that entire $450K (through a reduced buyout) anyway since they put offset provisions in their employment contracts....

It seems to me that SOMEBODY (not Fulmer) has some ducks in a row. Why would Steele come unless he has some idea where he stands. Be it the new head coach or someone who else to be HC is in the fold and both he and Steele are signed off on the setup, or he is just taking his chances, which I don't think he is dumb enough to do. Because he should know he would be able to get a GOOD job somewhere else.

Other way round, brother.

His Auburn contract was $2.5MM. Yellawood is paying him 2.1 million while UT gets a head football coach on 80% discount.

I think we’ll be riding with him a while.

He’ll be the guy until we hire an AD, and while the AD holds interviews. That’ll probably be sometime after spring practice.

I think he’ll have a real chance to earn the full HC tag.

Net-net, he won't be seeing a penny of what he's making here. He was going to get $2.5MM this year (as long as he showed good faith evidence he was trying to find work) no matter what. That amount is just $2.05MM AU and .45MM us. If we paid him $300K or $2MM, he was still going to see just $2.5M.

Ok - you tell me a secret and I will tell you a secret. The secret I would like for you to share is what makes you think Anderson wanted Pruitt ? I know Pruitt is from Alabama, and Anderson is from Alabama - what's the connection there ?

Ummm, yes-exactly my point. Steele still gets his money, but we pay a very small portion of it. That’s what guaranteed money means.

It’s a bit of contractual tactical genius by the UT administration to keep costs down and the program running as we work through CJPs buyout dispute.

They’ve geared up for a long slog through this process, to their credit. They’re prepared to find Mr. Right, instead of Mr. Right Now. They got a stack of cash and a good bit of leverage.

So Fulmer is gone. We have no AD. TN hires an AD with the stipulation oh well we have already got your football coach, you are stuck with him. That makes zero sense. Even TN isn’t that dumb.
