The only reason 'imply' made the list (at the bottom, I might add) is because so MANY people have misused the word over the years.

Exactly.... Historically different, today interchangeable.. Back to football. You have still not informed me how playing QB is as simple as throwing hooks and slants.

You explain to me why a 5-star (almost) QB who was a high school All-American couldn't play worth a darn. Let's don't bother with who the offensive coordinator was or how complex the system was. Let's hear about simple passes and simple reads. Let's hear about torn-up turf and cheerleaders with headaches.

The reads weren't simple; the receivers weren't open and weren't always where they were supposed to be; the protection was shoddy.....add it up, and what QB would look good?

Remember how Steve Young was a journeyman with the Bucs but a star with a 49ers?

If you don't think external factors should be considered when evaluating a QB, you don't know football.

I'm too lazy to look it up.........what all did you have to say about Fulmer and his players last season?

UCLA will not be a toss up. Other then that. Good article.
Neither will Kentucky or Vandy.

I am worried about our Secondary right now. I did have it listed as one of the best units on the team, but now with D-Mo gone and Vinson hurt and still in question about his future, I think this could be a problem going into fall practice. The positive I see from it is that all those young guys are getting a ton of reps and some great learning experiences. I expect Fleming and Wagner to step up this fall. They can be very solid for us. Also am jacked to see Darren Myles and Janzen Jackson come in and push these older guys.

No way are our QBs a B- yet. I think Coleman is really pushing JC right now. I would not be surprised to see him as our starter. If Nick can get healthy we may have a photo finish for the lead.

Our LBs concern me badly. He said it right about the speed. Monte thrives on speedy LBs in his system. But as far as our D goes, I trust Monte 100%.

WRs a C+? IDK. We have 3 good guys then the bottom falls out with inconsistency. This is a wait and see to me. Plus someone has to get them the ball.

He didn't rate the TEs. I have heard they are playing really well. Catching and blocking. I hope to see them play well next weekend. I am gonna try and watch them closely.

I would say from all I have heard and read that we are a C to C- overall right now. I expect that to improve greatly by September. But right now we have a lot of hard hard work to do. Go Vols.

…….. The guy has been a model citizen and bleeds orange for you …

I try to clear things up -- there are so many people who try to act like they know more than they do.....

Not saying JC is an All-American or a saint,……..

I don't know JC that well outside of a few interviews……..
.

Let me see if I understand you correctly. You are not saying that he is a saint but you did say that he has been a model citizen and bleeds orange for us.

Then you admit that you don’t really know him and point out how some people try and act like they know more than they do.

Pot meet Kettle.

it's disturbing how alot of people are reporting how bad the pass blocking is. they better get that fixed by the fall. the qbs struggle enough in normal pass protection

I understand you don't like Griff, but you're reaching on this one.

Therein lies your problem. You don't even go skin deep into comprehending this situation.

Would not be the first time and probably won’t be the last. :hi:

Just to clarify. I do not have a problem with Griff the person. I don’t know him well enough. I might enjoy his company over a beer or two. My problem is with writer32 the sport journalist. Journalists are supposed to be unbiased; yet he spends his time being criticizing those who criticize the problems of the program. Even a one-eyed jackass could see that there were problems with UT men’s basketball and the UT quarterback situation. He seems to prefer turning a blind eye to the problems and focus on the shortcomings of us fans.

Maybe there was -- and will be -- a time to be critical of JC, or any other UT football player.

But it's not in spring drills when a new system is getting put in.

Agreed. The work is more important than the results right now.

hahahaha.......lame

Yep, cause Erik Ainge shouldn't have gotten another shot after 05, and Peyton Manning should have been benched after his 6 int game. Right? Obviously that constitutes as grounds for "not being able to throw slants and hooks." You are leaving out a crucial aspect of the passing game. The offensive line and system are the foundation of great qb. Not the other way around (minus Michael Vick).

Ask Peerless Price sometime about trying to play receiver for Vick...the guy couldn't get through his progressions, and that's why Crumpler was a Pro Bowl tight end with the Falcons -- Vick continually dumped the ball off short to him in safety valve fashion

Which is why the system Vick is in really doesn't matter.

All these thoughts about what sort of offense will UT have this fall?

Geez... think about something positive guys.

Our offensive playmakers report later, so let's not put too much stock in spring practice. Neither QB is handing the ball off to Bryce Brown yet. We'll see who does that best when Bryce starts practicing with them. And, we can find out who throws the best short pass to Nuke on the next play.
