Does anyone know what to look for and some stats on these guys? Im very curious to see how we measure up.

Nixon's a guy who could keep LBSU in the game by himself. He's a bit streaky though. I imagine you guys shouldn't have much of a problem. Do you have a good defensive guard? If your perimiter defense is good you will roll. LBSU hasn't beaten anyone of note and their conference was down this year.

There seem to be 3-4 threads already about how we match up with LBSU, 7.

Droski, thanks for the post. We do have a good defensive guard in Josh Tabb, though he's a 7th man - or 8th man. JuJuan Smith is an adequate defensive guard.

Overall our perimeter defense is fine. We get beat by bigs inside or guards with exceptional burst on the penetration.

Long Beach State loves to shoot the 3. They are a perimeter oriented team that will jack it up from everywhere. They have 4 guys who have attempted over 100 3 pointers on the season. Slick Rick thinks Chism and Crews could hurt them inside.

You almost memorized the ESPN Insider breakdown of LBSU! Three cheers for photographic memory!

Actually, while they jack up the 3, I think only 1 or 2 shoot over 40%. Of course, if they are hot, it could be a long day.

As I recall, we had an overzealous player who attempted over 100 3's against LSU and hit like 1? :)

I wonder what their 3-point percentage will be with Tabb, Lofton, R. Smith, J. Smith and Howell up in their grills. Something tells me - substantially lower than their season average. :)

yeah they start 5 seniors. The next two guys off the bench are seniors too. usually that's a recipe for an upset, but I just don't see it. their coach could easily get fired after the season btw (his contract is up and the AD refuses to sign him to an extension). What does that say about what they think of him? Of course, now every midmajor wants to be george mason.

I feel better after reading this thread, but we'll still need somebody besides Lofton to show up if we're going to advance in this tournament.

I expect Jajuan to be back in full form.. And I think Wayne and Duke will step up this weekend as well. We'll need good minutes from Childress and Howell assuming we get past the first round. I also wouldn't be shocked to see Ramar breakout this week either.

Losing to LSU might have hurt, but we have to remember that they have an NBA caliber player and most of the talent that took them to the final 4 last year, and beat UF and Texas A&M this year. And that's when we played a terrible game.

I really find it hard to believe an LBSU team can give us trouble. Look what we did against UNC Wilmington or Fordham.

LSU lost alot with Mitchell and Thomas leaving last year...and Davis might be lucky to even get picked up in the second round if he decides to come out..

I don't think we'll have trouble with the 49rs, but I wouldn't compare them to Fordham or UNCW.. Both are accurately absent from the NIT field this year.

The A-10 and Colonial are markedly better than the Big West.
