Carter has built a great program at South. Why would he leave for SH? BTW Bobby Light is the man!

Really???

The rumor I'm hearing from some people that work at SH is that the top 3 are:
Paul Overbay (current DC)
Mike Turner (OC at Carson Newman and previous Science Hill coach in the early 90's)
and....

Graham Clark (Head Coach at Dobyns Bennett)- I personally think this is ludacris, but from what I've heard, Clark thinks DB is taking advantage of him.

What i've heard is that Carter want to build a dynasty at a large school. I don't know myself if there is any truth to it at all, but I heard it today at school and saw it in a thread on coacht.com. There it said that SCHS wanted Carter or Witten.

well if that's the case, I don't think the Science Hill fanbase would complain. It would be interesting to see what Carter could do with Science Hill's QB who threw for 1600 yards this season as a sophmore.

I like how Doug Fritz (sportswriter) just basically listed every local coach who made the playoffs as a possible candidate for the job. What a tool.

Bad decision. Carter had a good thing going at South, despite the fact they can never beat DB.

well, one of the decisions that will likely play into Carter's desicion will be South's downsizong that will be taking place because of zoning and urban initiatives, etc. South will probably be dropping to 3A over the course of the next several years. As the poster mentioned above, if Carter wants to build a program at a large school, this is his chance to go to the biggest school east of Knoxville.

On the other side, Science Hill isn't exactly the "crown jewel" of high school coaching jobs, so I doubt Carter would take the job unless he was able to bring some of his assitants with him. At one point, I had heard he wanted to bring in 4 assitants, which probably wouldn't happen. If Carter gets what he wants, he'll probably go and possibly set off a coaching musical chairs in the area. If not, Science Hill will go to their number 2, Mike Turner, OC at Carson Newman and coached Science Hill in 92-93.

Don't count on an announcement from Carter until after the South football banquet on January 9th. Either way, Science Hill should make a hiring announcement by mid January.

Carter will be able to bring 1 coach with him, probably one of the nelsons. Depending on open faculty positions, he may be able to bring a second coach.
