Schiano was Currie's #1 choice from the beginning

More importantly, how do we get these bunch of idiot Haslams out of our beloved University and State?

They are a poison that is killing us faster and faster.

Boycott their gas stations. Never. Ever. Go. There.

Saturday Down South reporting Schiano was in talks to be UT’s coach before Butch was even let go. It seems increasingly likely Schiano was ‘our guy’ from the start - our top target, our white whale.

The press release describing the Gruden offer as a “procedural motion” was not a smokescreen. It was true. Any attempt at hiring Gruden was a disingenuous act by a Haslam-led, tone-deaf AD. And with Currie canceling an in-person interview with Mullen, it seems very likely that interest in him was a “procedural motion” as well.

It was “Schiano to the Hill” this whole time.

*Sigh* ...and nothing even rhymes with Schiano.

OSU athletic director confirmed in his statement today that Currie reached out to him around 3 weeks ago, which does pre date Butch's firing.

of course, there's no confirmation of any other contact made with any other candidates, and we'll likely never know that...so kinda take it with the grain of salt.

i would say that, yes, Schiano does seem to be the guy at the top of the list, a whole lot earlier on that any of us ever knew.

We lost out on having another wordsmith:

"I don't know if that's not something that's not done in the National Football League, but what I do with our football team is we fight until they tell us game over," Schiano said after the game, pulling off a rare triple negative.

Because of the relationship that Schiano had with Haslam (who wanted to hire him for his NFL team) and Currie's jaunts off to the Bahamas, it seems clear that from the beginning the only real target was Greg Schiano. Everything else was just a smokescreen to cover for what had already been decided. Haslam said, "I got you hired and I REALLY think the best hire would be Greg". So sure was the AD, he didnt bother to have a search committee or even do a background check on the guy for potential problems. I am no insider but that is how the pieces of the puzzle look to me.

Since nobody else is likely to have had a REAL offer before this, perhaps NOW we can actually try to get one of the ones that are left. More likely, it is better to fire Haslam's stooge and bring Blackburn in, and go after the friggen best coaches in the country. That may mean we lose out this cycle and need to appoint an interim coach but lets actually do this right this time.

Anyone else think I am wrong and the top coaches on VN's wish list just turned us down and Currie only went after GS after getting rejected elsewhere? I really have my doubts.

Agree Haslam said Schiano and Currie said when you want me to hire him?
