Think about it. If Currie knows he isn’t gonna get Gruden, Kelly or Mullen he absolutely had to figure out how to get our fans behind the next coach. What better way than have a false leak that we are going to hire a man that lacked the integrity to report child molestation. Whoever he hires at this point will he a huge win. Oldest trick in the books. Politicians have been using this tactic since the beginning of time.

Because risking an already crumbling recruiting class to 'smoke-screen' the actual hire with false information about Greg Schiano would be a brilliant move by John Currie?

I hope you're right. Truth be told I didn't think any of the discussed candidates were really that bad (except for this one), so if it's someone like Brohm or Norvell I wouldn't be distraught over it.

i see no point is false flags. either they get who they want and announce it or they get schiano the pedo protector. given UT's history of rape issues this is absolutely ridiculous on epic levels. i still dont believe it though. no way they'd hire a guy who might have helped cover up children rape.

This makes sense if Currie is a highly intelligent and thoughtful man, but what if he is just another common idiot?

I know, honey.... there there. Dealing with reality is hard sometimes, but we cant pretend that something else is true when the truth totally sucks.

It’s not like Currie is ever going to take credit for the false leak. He hasn’t commented and won’t until he announces who the head coach is. He will be asked about it by the media and he will state he heard multiple names during the process that were all false reportings. Everyone in our entire fan base right now will be extremely happy with whoever it is we hire at this point. I have zero doubt in my mind that Schiano will NOT be our next coach. This tactic has been used for centuries.

It would be a good strategy to get Vol fans behind Kiffin, of whom I would be totally fine with at this juncture.

Sound a whole lot like how Julius Caesar aggravated the Roman senate. But there were only 60 of those guys.

no idea where it became acceptable for there to be some crazy stuff hiring a coach.Like most people on this board like " They are going to announce 4 2 coaches are hired....which will be false....and the 3rd name....under the 4th moon of the season will be the annointed"

Guys, its a freaking coach hire here. Im sick of this crap. They arent going to announce a deal with a coach just so they can hire someone else. Thats ridiculous. If they are playing those games, whoever is doing it needs to get their ass out of a position of power, because they are an idiot.

This Curry idiot wont last long, and his firing, along with whatever moron he brings in as coach will be the reckoning we are all waiting for.

That is like jumping out of a burning ship into a sea full of hungry sharks.

IE Screw Kiffin.

I don’t see this as being a conspiracy. Hope you’re right, but there’s too much smoke for all of this to be bs.

Surely no one in their right mind would have fake-leaked a hiring to get the fanbase more excited about the true hire....that's just too out there.

That people exist, not only to this degree of stupidity, but that there is this level of just plain old denial of realism absolutely blows my mind...

If I’m wrong I’ll gladly admit that I’m a hopeful optimistic that our AD has enough intelligence to know this would have been the worst hire possible in a time where you want to distance yourself as far away as possible to anything of sexual abuse nature. However, to act as if politicians, bosses etc haven’t been using this simple tactic for ever Is a pretty big sign of stupidity.

If it is either of them or most any of the decent coaches, it wasn't like many people were against them. We just won't be driving up and down the streets flying Tennessee flags and sounding our horns at other flags Like we would for Petersen or Patterson.

I want him to hire who he trusts. It's his ass on the line not ours. It's the high dollar donors putting down the serious bucks. But if this is a head game to set up the real hire, I hope I see him at a game so he can inspect my middle fingernail. This is bullcrap.

Sure...... so if say Cutcliffe is now hired you will flip him off? OK. Our whole fan base that would have been ready to torch him for NOT hiring Gruden or (insert big name) will be saying that’s a great hire due to it NOT being Schiano.
