I knew it, you probably knew it, and at least DD admitted it. Poor coaching IMO. Just because you make a mistake or two doesnt mean you bail out on what you do best. Whats next, just let teams make first downs so we dont have to catch any punts? Been behind DD all along but he, as much as the team, must make some improvements this off season. Just my 2 cents.

Lack of focus. Too many penalties and mistakes. They looked like a bunch of freshman out there.

When nothing seems to work then of course that leads to scared play calling. Sometimes its all about the other teams Defense stopping you and sometimes it's just our own players not getting it done. It happens to every team from time to time, especially young teams. It's not like we are some sort of offensive juggernaut just because we put up some big numbers against Memphis and Ole Miss.

You still dont abandon what you know you do best. Just doesnt make sense. Those are the times when you should stick to what you do best.

.....exactly what in your opinion, does this team do best?

Not just my opinion. When the coach comes out and says that spreading the ball around with the passing game is what your best at, dont abandon it. Youve surely heard DD and many others say that our biggest strength is on the outside.

This team has improved all season. They will be better next year, because Dooley will have 2 recruiting classes and a full year of having these players under a consistent system.

This team will lay it all out on the line and leave it all on the field next week. There is no guaranteed game #13 this year. I am not concerned one bit by what happened against Vandy. Its good to have those games and still find a way to win. There was a time this season that I honestly did not know if this team would even win 5 games. This team is far from perfect, but they are getting better. I think Dooley knew what he was doing by not throwing a true freshman to the wolves of the SEC (Florida, Georgia, Bama, LSU) and brought him along for this moment. There is a lot of learning going on and this team has dealt with adversity all year long. I am proud of how far they have come, given all of the circumstances.

Completely agree. I just dont like it when the coach says he gets scared to call plays because of a couple of mistakes. Especially if its what you claim to be your best mode of attack.

The play calling in the second half of this game reminded me of both Phil and Johnny in their last few games, sitting on a lead, trying not to lose.

I think the offensive line must have had the flu. They seemed unable to block. Vandy just ran past them.

Dooley also said it was easy for Bray to see the man coverage of the last two games and attack it... that was not the case last night.

Exactly my point. I can understand that philosophy sometimes, but not against a team that cant score more than 14 points against anyone.

Tennessee - the only fan base begging for wins to become bowl eligible and then complain about a win.

Im "complaining" because I dont want to be begging for a win in the future. I support DD and this staff as much as anyone on here, but im not going to just sit back and sweep the bad stuff under the rug.

its not like we completly stopped throwing the ball after the 2ints, we just didn't have much success. plus Poole deserves to have his touches. he had 23 rushes last night.

The team is wholly inexperienced. Where exactly do you have a team with: an offensive line composed of mostly freshmen, a freshman quarterback, a first year starter at RB, a walk on MLB, a patchwork DL, and a very young secondary - that is having great success? There are going to be mistakes and there are going to be limitations placed on the team because of what we can't do because we don't have the personnel yet. Bray is a tremendous young quarterback but Vanderbilt did a great job of-as Bray said-rolling coverages and throwing a ton of different looks at the offense. Was it a bad performance? Yes. Was it a win? Yes.

I think he felt Vandy could not score without us giving them points which we were continually trying to do by not taking care of the ball.

100% agree. My only point is, when things arent going well, IMO you stick with what you claim you do best. The first step in healing is admitting you have a problem, to hear DD say that was shocking to me, I hope he realizes what he said and that he doesnt make the same mistake in the future.

You try to stop what the other team does best, and make them do what they don't like. This is what Vandy done to us with rolling their coverage.

OMG!!

People pissed now because we didnt score 50 points

WTF!!

Are you pissed? Im only disappointed. Not because we didnt score 50, because I heard my coach say he was scared to call the plays the we are normally the most successful with. Im elated that we won the game!
