Scale 1-10, how are y'all feeling about this season

8/10. I feel confident we can compete for a playoff spot. Defense will be vastly improved. The question is the offense. But we've never had a "bad" offense under Heup, so I'm not overly worried about it.

Also, I think the schedule is mostly favorable. Aside from A&M, our hardest games are at home.

2024 was a bad offense

Don’t look at points per game. Scoring 69 on an FCS school, 51 on a dogshit ACC team, and 71 on a winless Kent state team inflated our ppg so much. In conference play we scored 25 points per game. Including out of conference play we scored 37.25 ppg in 2024. Huge difference

Top 10 rushing offense in the country (1st in SEC). 35.7 PPG (tied for 12th)

It was not a "bad" offense in the traditional sense. Bad for Heupel's standards maybe. But it wasn't a bad offense.

Every team scores less in conference in the SEC. We still led the SEC in rushing in conference play with 191 rushing yards ypg. Our yards per play was also among the SEC leaders in conference play.

Not almost two touchdowns less when you take out out of conference games

That's easy to do when you're baseline is 35 PPG and a top 12 unit in the country.

Ole Miss averaged 10 PPG less in conference play in 2024 as well, going from 38.6 to 28.75. Did they have a bad offense?

Again, we still led the SEC in rushing in conference play, averaging 191 ypg. That isn't a bad offense. Objectively, we weren't as great as the 35 PPG might suggest. But there is a vast amount of space on the scale between "great" and "bad." And we were certainly nowhere near bad.

The schedule feels brutal: Ga Tech, Texas, Auburn, Arkansas, Alabama to start…. The big ones are at home….. I mean.

7.5- 10 is a natty, 9 is playoff lock and SEC ship, 8 is playoff fringe, 7 is you beat 2 of the big 3.

Defense is the wildcard…. Offense needs to slow down and run the ball. This should be a run dominant, play action pass, and rolling the pocket dev year for QB. Tempo is dead IMO, league defense has caught up. Dont sub, get the dline stuck out there… but don’t play so fast.

7/10

The way last season ended just felt really bad!

Optimistic that one QB can be the guy. We need separation at WR to make QB job easier. Excited about new strength and conditioning. We looked small all year. Need a Special TE at some point.

Defense-elite pass rush! Do we have it? If so I don't see it, hope I'm wrong.

We will get separation. The question is can we catch the ball, can we hit a wide open man, and can our damn defense hit somebody so hard they piss blood for a week

this season is going to be interesting....will the defense be better? will the offense be worse? I think we are in for a rough one boyz.

Personally I'm at a 6, kinda nervous about our defense in year one under knowles and the quarterback competition
Yeah…about the same here. Feel like may have some first year jitters with the QB spot that will limit that side of the ball.

On defense, we know it is a 2 year learning curve.

So, I’m thinking a 7-5 or 8-4 season with enough positive play to make 2027 and 2028 highly optimistic years for CFP runs.

And I say all that with the caveat that it all depends upon NIL and transfer portal.

While I'm very encouraged by the changes on the coaching staff - especially with Knowles and Owings - I'm also cautiously optimistic and not getting too excited until I see a different product on the field. I'd say right now I'm at a 5.

Why would you start a poll thread without creating a poll?

The media hype is working on me. I believe in what Owings and Knowles are going to add.

Probably, a high 6 or low 7. This team could be much improved over last year's team and still go 7-5. With a new QB (and staff apparently not sold on either one for this year) and a new defensive scheme hard to see this team competing for a playoff run. Probably 6-6 or 7-5.

look at the numbers. ewe were not a bad offense e3xcept the two games where our QB fumblers and threw interception instead of scoring when we were inside the 10 yard line. Our offense should be better this Fall and the defense will be considerably better than last year. Look for 10 wins this year.

We could finish anywhere from 6-6 to 10-2. I could be wrong but I believe anything better than 10 regular season wins is extremely unlikely

Says the oblivious poster who insulted our players and coach for no reason other than your own shortcomings.
How bout you go tell Telander, Carter or any others to their face they don’t care, sport.

LMAO. You're a testy little snicker, arent you?

Have a great day, kiddo. I'll have my opinions, you have yours. Feel free to FO if you'd like.

Or you could go and iron Heupel's shirts for him. I'm sure he'd really appreciate it.
