Reports are surfacing that my boyhood idle Lenny "NAILS" Dykstra bet on baseball and shot up with roids. SAY IT AINT SO! I remember meeting him in 1993 at a card signing in Nashville, he went out of his way to talk with me and sign my NAILS poster(which I still have on my bedroom wall framed).

I sure would be heartbroken to find this to true.
SAY IT AIN'T SO LENNY!!!

PS: Go ahead and rip me...I can take it.

Nah I dont't think its true. there is really no strong info aginst him.

Reports have always been surfacing that he was a big gambler.

His HR spike late in his career suggests roid use.

That wouldn't surprise me in the least. Look at a picture of that guy when he came up as a scrawny slap hitter with the Mets in the 80s and then look at him with the Phillies in the 90s. His physical appearance completely changed.

Ironically in 93, one of the best years by a lead off hitter in major league baseball history, NAILS finished 2nd in the MVP voting to...GUESS WHO? Barry Bonds.
My college coach was roommates with Dykstra in the Mets minor league organization. Kinda ironic. I will admit Nails is an avid gambler. He was investigated and placed on probation for one year. However that was the extent of his troubles with gambling, or so I believed.

Hopefully he was inhaling protein shakes and creatine, and not shooting roids. Who knows? No matter what he is still my favorite player. It just kinda stinks.

Maybe he was eating some type of clear cream? Hey it works for Bonds right?

Don't blame, Larry.
