President Donald Trump will reportedly invite some of the most recognizable names in college football for a roundtable discussion on legislation regarding issues facing college sports.

Ross Dellenger of Yahoo Sports reported Thursday on what is being dubbed the Saving College Sports Roundtable. The discussion, set for next Friday, will be chaired by President Trump with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and New York Yankees president Randy Levine serving as vice chairs.

Per Dellenger, as many as 40 sports figures will be invited. The current list includes Nick Saban, Urban Meyer, Tim Tebow, representatives from all four Power conferences and Notre Dame, as well as pro sports commissioners and athletes.

he invitees include many of those within the industry itself, such as the four power conference commissioners (Big Ten, Big 12, SEC and ACC); at least one athletic director representing each power league (Wake Forest, Iowa State, Indiana and Oklahoma); Notre Dame athletic director Pete Bevacqua and ex-Notre Dame athletic director Jack Swarbrick; former coaches Mack Brown, Nick Saban and Urban Meyer; Texas Tech board member Cody Campbell; Heisman winners Tim Tebow and Charlie Ward; university presidents/chancellors Doug Girod (Kansas), Jeff Gold (Nebraska) and Donde Plowman (Tennessee); and former Clemson and West Virginia president Jim Clements,” Dellenger wrote.

“There are plenty more from outside of college athletics — business titans, athlete celebrities and pro sports executives. They include NBA commissioner Adam Silver; millionaire businessmen like David Blitzer, Marc Ganis and Gerry Cardinale; pro golfers like Woods and Bryson DeChambeau; and former secretary of state Condoleezza Rice. Media executives from Fox and ESPN are also expected to have received an invitation.

Yay! Maybe Nick Saban can be the Kash Patel of sports? Tim Tebow would make an excellent Pam Bondi.

I’d rather Trump not touch anything. Being US president automatically disqualified him from ever doing anything beneficial for the working folk.

There needs to be a discussion - it is out of control.

It should be the schools who make an agreement. It’s up to them as members of a league to decide how much they want to spend and try to develop the sports. I really don’t know why any former players or coach feel qualified to represent any future players or programs.

I feel like the only holistic solution may be a splitting in which the schools who want to spend $50+ million on player contracts split from the schools who can’t afford it.
