Saturday could be the start of it all....

I'd tap the brakes on "this is where it begins". Couple of thoughts come into play here. One, by now it should be apparent to any objective observer that UT simply does not have the overall talent and depth to compete in the SEC. We have a few playmakers, but a few ain't enough...aight?...and the glaring deficiencies in our OL are going to take time to fix.

Two, we might just be catching Auburn at exactly the wrong time. Yes, their playoff hopes are over, as are their SEC championship aspirations. They're down right now, no arguing that. This might be the right time to play Auburn. Or not.

And the UT game presents an opportunity for them to take it out on...UT. The outcome of this game is up to Auburn. Come out flat, and UT has a shot. Come out hot, and this is going to be a long game for UT fans.

If there's going to be a "where it begins" game, UT would be much better served by having that moment arrive on October 27th in Columbia, South Carolina. Win there, and they've got a very winnable home game against Charlotte; home games against UK and Mizzou; and then a road finish at Vandy. So a win in Columbia could propel the Vols to a 5-0 finish, and a very respectable
7-5 record. Even if they go 4-1 down that stretch, they still get to 6-6. Can they? Yes, I think so. Will they? Well, that's why they play the games.

I'd love to see UT beat Auburn. It would be a huge victory for a team that desperately needs that "signature win". But failing that, our best chance to finish strong comes in Columbia on the 27th. Win that one, and there's a chance...a chance, mind you...that the 2018 season was "where it began".

Go Vols.
i'll see your 5-0 OR 4-1 finish and raise you an Auburn win.

Never said insider, but I do own a recruiting franchise, and we have helped 6000+ families over 33+ years in basically every sport, nationwide with the recruiting process. We've seen hundreds of millions of scholarship $ go to well deserving athletes during that time. Hundreds of DI athletes, multiple pro athletes as well as thousands of D2, Juco, D3 NAIA scholar athletes. I'm a big believer that athletics can help change a kids life, I've seen it enough to know it's true. You sure are nosey! Hehe!

Not doubting you, but 33+ years in the recruiting business...all sports...and apparently you're a Vol fan, right?

What took you so long to find VN? Or decide to join?

Go Vols.

don't have to. i'd like to be right about TN being good. really. i would.

Please don't put me on "Ignore" for this, but I believe we finally have a guy who really understands "brick by brick". And that's where he's headed. So we'll see. I look for a leap forward in 2019.

Go Vols.

I was always with Gridscape. I probably have an old username under an old defunct email. Gridscape finally played out and just started following again. Way to negative for me so probably just read a bunch. These NegaVols are a cancer to our program, they have been for years and it's time for them to move aside for a bit.

One think is for sure you are not a pumper. I know i know your a realist...

Being optimistic is a good thing and I practice it daily. There is little doubt that positive vibes are a benefit to folks.

Being blindly optimistic just makes one look silly most times.

I am not optimistic about this staff based on all of them being rookies.

I am not optimistic about this staff because the two weak teams we played we didnt impress

I am not optimistic about this staff because we have been completely boat raced by anyone r who doesnt suck.

I am not optimistic about this staff because on a punt formation they apparently didnt know the rules or how to fit their plan inside the rules.

I am currently not optimistic about our AD for hiring a bunch of rookies.

I am optimistic that the program will turn around but I'm seeing it taking at minimum one more coaching change and 5-7 years before we see a 10 win season. I hope I'm wrong and will happily admit I was but many on VN believe the current staff is something special simply because they are wearing orange. That seems silly at best.

It's possible that our turnaround begins this Saturday, who knows right? I think it's vital that for that turnaround to happen, the sunshine pumpers need to outweigh all of the negative Nancy posters that continue to do nothing but moan and groan and bitch about every little move our program makes. The mob rules these days and we've let them rule this program in the ground. Every single Vol fan here knows that our downturn began when all the negative nancies ran Fulmer out of town. We've had this argument for years now and it's time to stop! We've got a good coach, a good staff and a good AD, something we all thought might never happen again with the haslam's at the helm. It's time to get on board or get gone! Time for the good to become the Vol Mob! Stop replying to these clowns, start blocking them the 2nd time you see one of their 12 year old views. Let the ugly go be with the ugly, let the guys and gals that root for the Vols with that ray of hope for victory every Saturday be the fans you associate with! I'm hoping that about 20 of the negative nancies block me immediately, sooner or later I'll never have to see em again. As for the Vols I think we've got a good chance vs Auburn. Saturday was a physical game that resulted in a beatdown for them. They are tired, beat up, looking at us as a pushover and thinking of nothing but having the next weekend off! Vols are an afterthought to Auburn and those 11:00 games at home are brutal! The orange sunshine pumpers think we get it done!! 28-20 Vols
P.S. NegaVols feel free to reply with your usual negative views, that will help me get my list to where it needs to be!
I hopw your right. But i don't see JG and this offense putting up 28 points. Defense or special teams need to score.

Would be a great win and might help us turn the corner if we do pull it off, however, there is a Mac truck around the corner named Alabama regardless of what happens Saturday

I think you could be dead wrong about Pruitt and i think he has a good staff , but i could be very wrong but if we have to change coaches again then God help the program it will be in big time trouble, i truly believe Pruitt can get it done but either way i don't see the point in being so negative unless it's just so you can say i told you so.

Pointing out obvious flaws isn't being negative. Disagreeing with someone blind to obvious flaws isn't being negative.

I hope and pray i am wrong and this staff stays here for 15 years and wins tons of championships. However there is absolutely ZERO reason to think that's going to happen other than completely blind optimism.

So if doing the ostrich thing and pretending all is well because the new guy is wearing orange is your thing that's ok. However, a fan not buying into the new staff of rookies after 3 complete debacles this year isn't being negative. It is simply resigning oneself to another few of years of suckage that you hope doesn't turn into a decade or more.

I think that since i have zero control that i will look on the positive side as long as i can and i don't know if Pruitt will turn them around or not but he knows football , and to me that is such a breath of fresh air, and i don't think its fair to really judge him good or bad this quick, jmo.

It's easy to see who the NegaVols are! Immediately ignore them and watch your experience improve!

To be fair LW is not a Vol at all. He's one of the more sane posters on this board IMO. But, I guess by default he qualifies for the Nega part.

You may want to put him on ignore twice to achieve that coveted sunshine pumping echo chamber you're looking for.

This statement almost makes me mad..."he knows football"..WTH does it even mean?

There are countless coaches across the nation that "know" football and yet suck at coaching it. Unless of course they have more talent than the next guy. Then they look like great coaches and many believe they are.

How much a coach knows dont meant all that much. It is how much his players know and how close they can come to executing what they know flawlessly. IE coaching is teaching and not just teaching but your pupils need to understand wtf you want if your team is going to be successful.

All HC of Divison 1 teams know football. Many sofa warriors know it also. But only the ones who can teach their team what they know and how to execute it well will be successful.

Really, they pour their entire life into the University and they could care less who wins? Do you hate on everyone or is this how you were raised to think of good people doing good work?

They are making business decisions for the university. I am sure they think they are doing the right thing financially by not competing for the title. It is the safest course of action since the external income stream is so high.
