560 AM in Nashville has an afternoon drive show with Bill King and Joe Biddle.... It's mainly 3 hours of UT talk... It's pretty brutal and honest and you get, almost, a daily dose of small mike - whether you love him or hate him.... You should check out their site, you can stream it live.... Just for an alternative from that drivel on WNML

Nashville's SportsRadio 560 WNSR

When you get UT talk, it is delivered in a critical tone. I think Bill King has never gotten over the Sanders era up in Knoxville. I know for a long time on his show, he would not call him by name. I think that stance caused a rift with he and Fulmer. Biddle is big buds with Spurrier and does not give as much credit to UT as he does criticism. Now if you are a Bama or Florida fan, they will generally sing your praises.

If you are a negavol and looking to talk UT football, this is your pair to call.

You can say what you want about Doug Matthews - but he is very critical of the team and coaches right now.
Not to mention in the preseason he was stating that he didnt think AF was a very good tailback. Points in my book.

I find the sports page (well pretty much Hooker) to be very entertaining, and they don't pull punches.

I like Doug but he has taken the position that he does not want to discuss replacing Fulmer. He will criticize the coaches and he will let callers say thier peace, but IMO Doug is ignoring the 600 pound gorilla in the room. The morning and afternoon crews on 104.5 have been ripping into Fulmer for a couple of years now but those shows spend way more time on pro sports, plus they have to mix in the local colleges.

I've been listening to Basilio on the www the past couple of weeks. He's stuck his neck out there but I would not be surprised if he's off the air in a few months should Phillip weather the storm.

He's been anti-Fulmer for a while now, so I think any canning would have already happened. He has his sources and anyone in ET who wants the real story or winning football listens to him over anything on the Animal anyways.

Plus Basilio isn't exactly with a radio network, he just purchases the daily 3 hours from a guy who owns the local ESPN station. He had that owner guy on the radio, and he is a mega-Fulmerite. Still, to Basilio's credit, he still said and maintains that Coacho Ocho needs to go adios.

It's the problem of being in a small market where the university's sports program are the only game in town. If you're critical, the UTAD/coach cuts off your access, and it's hard to get info. This is why a lot of these people are SAPS and are reluctant to criticize. Plus, I imagine that UT or the UTAD advertisers on some of these programs or stations--and so there is a financial component as well. The head coaches are also very sensitive to criticism. You basically have to function independent of the university--and that is doable for people who have the rocks. Otherwise, you're just a sap. So I give Adams credit for telling it like it is. Of course the sheep on another board have killed him for years--but we see who is laughing last.

I'm not going to beat up on Hyams much. He's kinda the classic "straight guy" player. He really doesn't like to speculate about things like who is going to take over after somebody gets canned. I heard him on the Sunday morning Sportstalk TV show state very matter of factly he thought Fulmer's odds of keeping his job after the Aub loss were about 50/50. That's not exactly pouring honey on things.

You can't deny Biddle is a Bammer homer and King has a bad case of jock envy.

You can say what you want about Doug Matthews -

Does he ever fail to mention that he used to be a coach??

If he knows so much about coaching why isn't he still doing it??

He wouldn't have much of a show without Barnhart.

I don't listen to him anymore, another thing is that he cuts off callers that don't agree with his take on any topic.
