We’ll probably disagree on this but I don’t think Tennessee was looking to change coaches until the violations surfaced before the A&M game in 2020. I truly believe Pruitt would have got 2021 if none of that had surfaced if for no other reason than to reduce the buyout. Once the reports were out, they had no choice.

Pruitt was getting 2021 even with the stuff before the A&M game until the Board of Trustees stepped in...

You are correct. What most fans ignore on here is that Saban controlled the media and access to information to the program. That allowed him to cheat at a higher level than other coaches. It was a condition of his initial contract that he controlled all information, media, and access to the program. The few leaks that occurred would have been major infractions at other programs. Suits, Dodge Chargers, and money. But not at Alabama. Pruitt was just a symptom of the disease at Alabama.

That in my eyes should’ve been a contender when we look back and see how good those guys were. Butch couldn’t make it happen. Like it or not, saban is the best college coach we likely ever see.
