Saban Fan Page Says It All

Most laughed at Saban when he warned us years ago about this. He was right. And to the ones who made fun of him retiring? Oh he is running because the talent advantage is Jo longer there? Get real. Imagine being in your kid 70s having to deal with the ****show that calls itself college football now. I doubt anyone on this board could do it at 40 let alone 70.
Who was making fun of him? I think more people were calling him out - so to speak - about not having the monopoly on paying players anymore and calling it quits. But that statement in the fan page is just more confirmation that college football as we all knew it... Is dead.

Leave it to Bammers to have a fan account called Nick Saban instead of something like, you know, Fans of Nick Saban.

The comments are nice. I do kinda wonder how many of them would post such goodwill if it didn’t look like it was coming from Saint Nick. But I’m a cynical old man that way.

Many understood what he was saying and agreed with his assessment.

Yep, it fooled me. Of course, I’m the poster child for Facebook Illiteracy (and old too!)

When Saban opted to be a spokeshole for Progressive Insurance, was it because that was the one place where he could grow as a pitchman or because they offered him the biggest payout?

For a guy who's made a significant fortune well above what any college player ever will for decades, its a little hypocritical to criticize others for cashing in for a much smaller payout over a very brief window.
Yep...$70 million net worth, coached 6 teams, two of them for 2 years or less.

Hadn't seen this posted here-

Nick Saban‘s comments about the Nico situation

« on: April 16, 2025, 12:50:23 AM »

"It doesn't matter if you yell Go Dawgs, War Eagle, Hook 'Em, Go Irish, or Roll Tide...

No matter the colors you wear or the stadium you call home, every college football fan should be standing with Josh Heupel today.

Because this weekend, he didn't just make a coaching decision — he made a stand.

A stand for what college football used to be, and what it still could be if enough of us care.

He stood up for crisp Saturday mornings in Knoxville, when you're walking into a tailgate with your kids — full of pride, tradition, and orange everywhere you look.

He stood up for late Saturday nights under the lights in Neyland, with your best friends beside you, watching a game that feels bigger than life.

He stood up for the culture this sport has created — one built on loyalty, legacy, and love for something deeper than money.

Guys like Peyton Manning didn't wear the Power T for a paycheck. Hendon Hooker didn't stick around for a bidding war. They played for Tennessee — for what it meant.

And this isn't a criticism of the player, but the system that allows & promotes this behavior. You were warned this was coming. That NIL would tilt the balance. That the game we love would start to lose its soul. And here we are — where the highest bidder can win, and jumping ship is just part of the process.

But this weekend, Josh Heupel said enough.

He drew the line. He chose Tennessee over transactions. Culture over contracts.

So whether you love Tennessee or love to beat them — respect the man who stood up for every fan who's ever poured their heart into this game.

Thank you, Coach Heupel.
For standing tall.
For reminding us why we fell in love with this sport in the first place.

Roll Tide. Go Vols. Go College Football."

Where did he say this?
He didn’t. A Facebook page devoted to Nick Saban copied and pasted what someone else said about the situation, and the same people who went broke helping Nigerian princes ran with the idea Saban said it.

Saban couldn’t bring himself to read anything aloud that was so nauseatingly sycophantic.

He didn’t say this. This is from an account that says Saban but within the page states “fan account.” So there’s that.

The article is fake news. Fact is that Heupel could not recruit Nico left because he had no elite playmakers from the transfer portal, and Elarbee has yet to develop an offensive lineman who has succeeded. They were relying on athletes recruited by Pruitt, and now we are in a downward spiral. Last year, we had the easiest schedule and only managed to defeat one team with a record better than 7-5, which was Alabama, who had their worst season in years. Please explain how Caldwell has one ranked class, while Barnes is bringing in top transfer portal players and looks like ament also and vitello won a championship at a suck a** baseball program and continues to attract top-ranked recruiting classes. I keep hearing that it’s about money, but that doesn’t make any sense. Let's pump the brakes on making Iamaleava the villain and Heupel the martyr

I smell troll.

There are no villains or martyrs here. There was just a miscalculation by Nico or his handlers. They thought they had more leverage than they did. They didn't think UT would call their bluff. They VASTLY overestimated the worth of a QB who was pretty much average last year playing with some pretty good WRs and who had a run game to take the pressure off.

Nothing personal against Nico but he wasn't worth what he was already getting paid much less more.
