In alabama, many believe losing to louisiana monroe is a catastrophe beyond description.

How dose Saban get some of our top recruits. This man will lie to himself and his word is not worth a spit

I had a friend commit to UT, then sign with UK after talking to Bassett, the recruiter in the days of Hal Mumme. My friend was an o-lineman, and he told me it was hard to turn down their offers, he said they had him believing he could play QB if he wanted to (not that far of a stretch with Laurinzen.)

Alot of football recruiters are not much different than time-share salesmen.

well it does sound like he is overdoing it a little. although a little bizzare he is trying to come up with something to give his team hope they can win vs aburn and overcome that horrible loss. It may be over the top but would you rather him say we are going to work like heck to get better. :)

Honestly I would rather have the work like heck speech than compare losing to an inferior opponent to that of events that cost people their lives.

At least we only pay our coach $2 Million to occasionally lose to inferior opponents. I couldn't imagine paying a coach $4 million for a loss to the likes of Louisiana-Monroe.

yes I agree with you there and I did say I thought it was bizzare. I think he had the right general idea but went to far with it. I wouldnt recommend phil go that far but would like to see him try something..

My husband had a cousin to die in the World Trade Center on 9-11, and I'm sure if you let his parents read what Saban said they would have alot to say back....As much as we all love the game you can not compare losing lives to a Saturday loss...Even Michigan can not take it that far with their first game of the season...

EDSBS » Archive » NICK SABAN’S PRESS CONFERENCE

my favorite part:

Saban: “…wait, I’m not done. Take the Native Americans. Only the tough ones survived, and now they’re rolling in it with casinos and such. Rich Indians, the tough ones. That’s gonna be us. Right now, everyone’s stumbling around drunk on firewater and dying of smallpox, but lemme tell ya: we’ll be the ones with the chips and big teepees when this is over, y’all.”

I think he's still giving the press conference...he's using Jim Belushi's lines from Animal House now.
