S5 or LG3

I've been thinking of switching myself. The G3 has my attention. I've become bored with the iPhones.

I just don't know crap about android....

I switched to from IPhone to Android a couple of years ago. It did take a few days to get use to Droid. My first was a Samsung S3, now using the S5. I prefer the android platform.

Thanks gramps. I guess if one old dog can learn new tricks, I guess another old dog can too.

I'll have to look that up. We actually have 4 phones right now on the plan and I think we are paying roughly $200 a month...

It really comes down to how much data is actually being used between all phones and how many phones you would be upgrading. Here's an example of what you could do if you did all the phones at once for a g3/s5.

4 lines on NEXT plan for those two models would put you at $260/month for the 10gb ($290 for 15gb). Your upfront cost would only be $240 to get all 4 phones w/ no upgrade fee's(which are $40 per line). If you were to keep your current plan and do 4 upgrades you'd be looking at $880 upfront for the phones and $160 in upgrade fees.

Now the monthly price or upfront pricing varies on what phones you get or how many you get. But hopefully this will help out your decision. Also in case you don't like the phone you get you have 2 weeks to return it or trade for a different phone.

There's nothing good about the NEXT plans. If you have a family plan keep it. They will do everything but beg you to change anytime you talk to them. I have 4 lines on my family plan & I pay $197 per month. 3 iPhones, 1 with unlimited 2 with 2GB plans, & a regular phone that has a $15 non smartphone unlimited plan. I'm not changing until they make me.

The plans don't work for everyone, but more times than not its actually cheaper than the old plans. If you have unlimited data and are actually using 5+ gb a month on your own...then don't change. It's when you break down upfront cost vs monthly cost that you'll see the money difference. Iphine 5s on a 2yr contract will cost you 199+ tax + $40 upgrade fee. On NEXT its only $63 no upgrade fee.

I call & get the upgrade fee waived ever time. I recoup more than what I paid for the current phone whenever I upgrade. I guess if you have to be thrifty do whatever you have to do but there's no way I'd change from my family plan the way it is now.

The good thing is we'll never make you change. I know at verizon you can't make any changes on your account if you have unlimited data, unless you change from it. If you're happy, we're happy.

Give the google camera app a shot, very simple interface

I did a quick search and found nothing on this, so do you know if there's a way to officially change the default camera to Google Camera? Like when I try to add a picture from camera to a text, the old camera app still comes up

I think it's under app permissions or app default settings. Next time you open a camera it will ask you which app you want to use.

AT&T has gotten extra stingy about waiving upgrade fees over the last few months. If you've got a family plan with like 10+ years tenure, then maybe I could see it. I watch people try it every day though; a year ago, it tended to work. Not nearly as much now.

And the next program is actually about the same cost as the old plans, all told. FAN discounts are bigger now because they're applied to $100+ worth of data rather than $60-70 worth of minutes.

If somebody has 4-5 smartphones with everybody using 1.5-3GB of data per month or 3 smartphones with a bit more data usage, the math actually works out more often than not. Yeah, the monthly is higher, but the offset is not having to pay $100-200 for a new phone and $40 upgrade few every time somebody gets a new device.

I agree with what was mentioned earlier, if you've got unlimited data and are on 5GB or more of usage for that line, then keep the old plan if you're on unlimited.

it never did and I just tried again and it still didn't, I'll check app permissions, but last time I was there, I couldn't do it
