This has become a pattern with RP. I think Miles is trying to tell him that it is one strike and you are out for good if he screws up again. In hindsight, I wish he would have committed to the Shorthorns.

Texas was recruiting Ryan hard. He'd probably have the inside track for earning the starting job. Colt McCoy certainly didn't have it locked up after Vince Young left.

I doubt it. McCoy had a better first year than Vince did when he was a sophmore. I am aware that Periloux was recruited hard by Texas and all that, but I strongly doubt he would have been better than McCoy. McCoy's numbers were pretty amazing for a freshman.

Those amazing freshman numbers weren't available last August and thus didn't play into deciding who would start. If I recall correctly, the starting QB for Texas wasn't decided until the last minute. There was obviously some concern over whether or not McCoy was the guy.

Jevon Snead went from Florida commit to Texas player to... I've heard SMU. Quite a drop for him.

Where was McCoy on the recruiting lists? RP was number one. I would say this kid probably had more talent, and just because he has played behind Russel doesn't mean he would have been a worse QB.

This may have been handled better with a stern warning not suspension IMO.

i got to admit with all the fanfare surrounding RP coming out of HS and his recruitment between LSU and TX so heated, i can't believe the kid hasn't seen the feild yet....off field probelms aside, if he really was that talented, you'd think he'd of seen the field in some way shape or form by now.
