The Russian military has made the decision to base Tu-160 strategic bombers in Venezuela on an island called La Orchida. Its 200 kilometers northeast of Caracas. Tu-160 strategic bombers can carry six MKB Raduga Kh-55/101/102 cruise missiles, which have range estimates between 4,500-5,500km or more. Which puts the entire East Coast, Southwest, and Midwest in its range.

There is, capitalism brought them together.

The good thing about Russian movement like this is because they are so hated it will slow down the socialist party here . If it turns into a true Cold War again the odds of Bernie and crazy eyes being able to gain more footing will go way down .

meh.

wouldn't surprise me to see some other nation step in and try and stabilize them with some lucrative benefits for the savior country regarding the oil Venezuela has access too.

Link?

I saw a few days ago that Russia flew a couple bombers there (as it has done a few times in the past).

What constitutes a "base"?

They give them good names..like Blackjack and Bear..

Actually...that's us doing that with the NATO naming thing. They name them things like Flingenjetski or Domoundrovovova or some such nonsense.

We actually make them sound cool with "Fulcrum" or "Foxbat" or "Backfire."

Firefox?

tu-160 is called the White Swan..totally lame. NATO conventions are better.

We absolutely should if the Russians want to play tough. I also think we need to sail a warship into the Black Sea to prove a point.

The U.S. Navy is sailing a Guided Missile Cruiser into the Black Sea as this week.
