I don’t like it. Doesn’t work any better than anything else imo.... I prefer the way we used to play in the I Fornation with pro style sets. TN had certain plays that were great and really worked well.

Im Not sure if that would help to run more of theses types of plays but we don’t look 👀 good at all running these spread shotgun plays....

I like the play action out of a direct snap but it seems like few teams really take direct snaps anymore...

Thoughts??

Chaney needs to gear the offense to his personnel. Run the RPO with short routes. There is no reason to have our receivers running way down the field and praying that we will make a completion. This offense is not working with JG. Come out and surprise Bama with something different. Its not like we are good and efficient with the offense we've been operating.

I prefer the single wing or the Wishbone...but neither offense would likely work well in todays game.

The world changes and we keep up or get left behind

I’m not sure that Pruitt realizes this or not because he clearly knows defense much better than offense but this team is being built with “spread” players. He’s recruited nothing but gunslinger qbs. Speedy WRs and no TEs. That spells spread in football. Sorry buddy.

Yea that sounds logical.. but what we r doing in not working at all! So why not run different types of plays? Quick screens? Direct snaps? Option? Triple options? Draws? Play action? Utah pass?
Jet sweeps? Fake jet sweeps? Quick slants? TE passes? TE screen?

Theses vanilla spread play are fooling nobody!
There is zero creativity or variety in our plays!!
So why not use different plays and different sets?

The offense is in good hands under Chaney! Just give him a QB that can throw the deep ball. Do you really have such a short memory about what it was like with Chaney and Bray?

I agree, Chaney is a proven good oc. But there is no oc that can do much with a qb like jg we keep trotting out on the field.

Yup and that's just what works in today's game. Adding Salter to the mix also points in that direction.

Supposedly Chaney likes to use the TE in the passing game. He threw to them a lot at GA. I can’t believe we don’t have a TE that is capable of blocking and catching.

Cheney does what he’s told and works with what’s he’s given. I’m sure his playbook is 5 inches thick. He has plays for every style of qb if I had to guess.

It could be more about what defenses are doing these days than an O strategy. Agree about chaney and using his weapons. we have speed on the bench. why recruit them?

We’ve actually recruited tight ends who jerked us around to go somewhere else and our starter is gone for the year.

Alabama, which has the best offense in the SEC, runs a more pure spread offense then we do. There is more spread now run in the NFL. Why? Because spread type offenses are more modern, higher scoring, and harder to defend. Simply put, they're just better.

This offense just looks very vanilla and slow to develop. I hate that we dont use TEs also.
