If we whif on our "A" list running backs in this class, is it possible we don't sign anyone at this position and try to load up at RB in the 2014 class?

I am still o fthe notion that we will sign at least one more RB whether that is Ford, Turner or someone else we haven't heard about yet. I also think they want another WR regardless of whether we get North.

I can see that. I think CBJ wants another "athlete" to be the other receiver. Another Pig type player. Small, Shifty and can play multiple positions.

I haven't looked at the 2014 class who are the big name running backs?

Jalen Hurd is from TN and will probably be a top 25 player this next year. We are also in on some other big backs such as Nick Chubb that I can think of off the top of my head

Hurd is already coming to campus for Junior Day on 2/16. He's a 4-star from Hendersonville, but the way he runs, he could add a 5th star before it's over.

I think bUTch is working hard for a solid 2013 class, but they've gotten a huge jumpstart for 2014, which I think will give us a much better gauge on his recruiting ability and program-building ability.

They may take one, but I hope they save them for 2014. Players such as Hurd, Paulk, Chubb, McKenzie, Travon McMillian (Levenberry's teammate), and Derrell Scott have interest in UT and the new staff.

Maybe we are sitting well with the Michael Dyer situation. That would make alot of sense with it looking like we are sitting back a bit. If we miss on RB this year like we did on OL last year, I think it's going to hurt.

what would the timeline be for a Dyer pick up? Summer or spring ball? He doesnt have to sit out correct?

Yeah Hurd is the top running back in the state from Beech High school. Routinely runs for 300+ yards, including nearly 400 yds a couple of times in state playoff games this past year. They need to live with this kid and do whatever it takes to get him. Can't believe he's not 5star yet. Size, speed, power.... Great to hear he's coming in for Junior Day!

I believe these are Dyer circumstances that we find ourselves in. Go Vols!

Isnt Dyer bad news.

He WAS very bad news. Seems to be getting his life back on track. Would have to let the coaches meet with him and decide if he were worth the risk. CBJ mentioned some surprises. If we were to get Dyer, most would consider it as such. JMO

What about Corn Elder? Are we still in on him?

I say take Dyer & shut down trying to recruit a RB.Instead of settling for our 8th or 9th choice,go after some quality backs next yr.We're clearly not getting a good back this yr.

It was brought up back around the 1st of January that CBJ had ties to Dyer and they had spoke about his situation(per several articles). Dyer then started following CBJ on twitter and it went from there. Dyer has made it known he would like to get back to major college football.

He never eally considered us. Dooley never seemed to give the kid a look. Plus he has long been an OSU lean.

Don't know that he has a commitable offer from OSU right now. The interesting thing will be if Coach Martin decides to offer a basketball scholarship. We are looking for late point guard help, and Martin has seen him recently and is evaluating him. Elder is interested in playing bball, too. He finally got his first big basketball offer from Purdue this week. Will be interesting to follow.
