I watched the Clemson vs Wake Forest game tonight and was wondering how would we look running a similar offense to the demon deacons? Having Creer and Hardesty in the backfield at the same time and Nick at QB with a spread offense (more running plays with a kick) and keeping some of the G-Gun?

I thought spread offenses don't work in the SEC?

Anything would be better right now for us... It's just a thought and don't see how it could really hurt to attempt it.

Great idea just one thing...WE NEED OUR LINEMAN TO HOLD THEIR FREAKING BLOCKS TILL THE WHISTLE BLOWS. As a former OT I'm very shocked at what I'm seeing out of Parker and company..Defenses are shedding the blocks and really clogging our offensive flow.

There is a difference between running a spread offense and the spread option that Florida runs. We definitely couldn't run a spread option with Nick Stephens (can't run) or Jonathan Crompton (can't hit the broad side of a barn).

Well at the game against Northern Illinois, Stephens did scramble on one particular play and moved quite well to pick up a good gain. Can't turn down an idea without seeing an outcome first....O- line must def get their acts together if we plan on running the ball regardless!

We've run those 2 back sets quite often. We just didn't run an option out of it. I think having the 2 backs gives a better option for protecting the QB when your O-line is full of holes. One back can pick up the blitz/free man, and the other can jump out for a short gain.

We had a spread offense but our qb could not run it. If you have running backs in the backfield it isn't a spread offense. What gives you any confidence Stevens can run the offense any better than Crompton? If he had been clearly better than Crompton starting last spring he would have been playing before last week. Teams are starting to get the hang of the G-gun. All he ever does is run out of it. I don't remember a big play out of it any this year.

Well the reason I think Stephens has a better shot at running the offense than Crompton is cause I played against Crom in high school. He was good but made the same mistakes then as he is doing now. Nothing has really changed.

Is anyone ever going to actually define a "spread offense"? Holy hell on a popsicle stick, I see the same crap every single day and no one has yet bothered to define it.

Either spell it out (so I can shred the argument) or don't (so I can shred everything else).

A spread set and a spread option are two different things..

we dont have the personnel for it yet, which would take like another year or 2 of recruiting (at least), then you have to instill and use the offense in game, which - barring the problems schools like auburn are having which set you back even further - takes another 2 years before it seems to work in its third...essentially, you'd have to have 2-4 years of poor offense (and maybe even poor team play) before it works...i feel by then though someone's going to have figured out how to stop it
