Rumors from TOS say Bruce is Staying

If you just judge from recent history of coach's getting hit with unethical charges, 19/20 have received show causes. That's one reason we believe he'll be suspended. And then there's the information that has come out that said that Pearl was looking at a 2 year show-cause and the program was looking at an at least 1 year postseason ban as well as major recruiting restrictions. That's why people assume we're going to be destroyed if he is retained.

Punishments are all pure speculation. You can't predict what the NCAA will do. They do whatever they feel that morning.

The Pearl question is an interesting one. Do you fear the NCAA penalties more or do you fear starting over with a new coach? It's not an open and shut case.

There has been plenty of reliable and past information that has been posted, in regards to what will happen to us with Pearl getting the unethical charge. The only thing we don't know, is the length of the suspension. Slive hit him with an 8 game suspension, and that has little to nothing to do with what the 'AA will hand down. It's not going to be good what we will get if he is still our coach in June, and there is no speculation on that. It will be a minimum of a 1 year suspension, among other sanctions that will completely hinder him from fielding a decent team for at least 3-4 years.

Please don't mention facts, it gets the haters all riled up.

Funny; since in the very next post I corrected it. It is in the "Notification of Termination of Employment Agreement" that the University gave Pearl.

What was riled up about that?

While I don't disagree with anything that has been said about Pearl and the reasons he has to go I can't help but look at the bolded statement and think 3-4 years might be a little harsh when it comes to fielding a decent team. Pearl is really good at taking lesser talent and competing on a larger scale. If he were to be retained (which I don't think will happen) he'd definitely have lesser talent to work with after his show-cause has been served.

Heck, losing talented recruits might actually work in his favor from what I saw this year on the court.

I guess the "starting over" thing is what I don't agree with. It seems like if UT kept Pearl and he was suspended 1-2 years, seems like we are starting over then. It's almost like putting the program on pause. It will affect everything, especially considering sanctions would be worse. However, hiring a new coach doesn't feel like "starting" over to me. There is a roster, 2 signees, state of the art facilities. UT would just need a coach. Will they find a Bruce Pearl? No, they won't, but if were gonna have a coach I think he would be more affective if he is actually allowed to coach the next couple of years

If we lose 3-4 scholarships, which is entirely possible, you think he will be able to build any depth or get REALLY good players to walk on?? Nope.

Anybody seen the movie They Live? I'm starting to feel like Roddy PIper walking around amongst the blind.

I don't think anyone should talk in absolutes. His subpar talent as UWM did pretty well from what I remember, as did his initial team here at UT when a lot were saying we'd be lucky to win 15 games that year.

All that said, I think it's a moot point as he's really close to the door, probably on the way out. It's what is most likely best for our proud university.

Uh really? UW-Milwaukee. Want to know the violation? Inviting a highschool Junior to his house for his daughters graduation. Sound familiar?

Man, I guess he deserves the death penalty (cough, cough); it should be a crime to invite ANYONE to your daughter's/son's graduation. Who knew it was a crime to invite someone to your offspring's graduation?:birgits_giggle:

it's against the rules if he is a recruit and shows a pattern
