He threw it down there but the reason it was a touchdown is because Malone made a great catch on an under thrown ball and then made a great play to break away from the tackle. I've yet to see Dobbs throw one down field and a receiver catch it in stride for a touchdown.
That was not an under thrown ball - It was thrown perfectly with Malone catching it in stride. If it had been thrown longer Malone would have not been able to catch it. If it has been thrown shorter it would have been a missed catch or interception.

Just watched the replay. Malone did not have to fight to catch the ball - it landed right in his hands. He had to fight from being tackled by the defender AFTER he had clearly caught the ball.
He eased up and held off the DB with his right hand and caught the pass. What some others are saying is we want Dobbs to throw it where the receiver never breaks stride and it falls into his his arms for a perfect throw and catch. Take a close look at the replay of it and you will see what I'm saying.
Still a great throw and a great catch.
Average throw at best. No reason to have to slow down and allow the db a chance to get back into the play. An SEC db breaks up that catch 19 out of 20 times.
50 yards in the air, is not average. Maybe average for elite athletes. Dobbs did do 1 little hop and then threw it, that was the difference from in stride vs back shoulder. Malone did a great job maintaining the separation by hand checking the DB when he had to adjust to the ball.
