I heard that both teams were offered $20 million (to split) and that bleachers/stands would be built on the racetrack, making the stands a lot closer to the game. the seats farther away from the action might not be that good, but i'd still go if they had a game there. i believe they said with the addition of the stands on the track that they could fit 200,000 people in there. that would be just insane. would make the "worlds largest cocktail party" look like a middle school football game.

You stated the most facts but Beamer killed it as well as Hammy. said UT would lose money(getting 10 mill a weekend at Neyland?) and Beamer doesn't want to lose to UT again.Schools were playing 12 games already. Can't figure how UT could lose money.Oh yeah MH also said he didn't want to lose a home game.Trust me,the tri-cities is HOME to UT though we have a fair share of turkey lovers.

This may be interesting. I also saw on a futures schedule we are playing the Tar Heels in several years. This could be interesting as well.

As for the Bristol thing, most of the speculation about it what several years ago before they did a complete facemask of BMS. They did everything from repave (concrete) the track to rebuilding all the infield buildings and victory lane. With all the new renovations, I dont ever see Bruton Smith allowing anything to be done to his track. From what I read earlier he was offering each school a huge huge sum of money to come play. The way it is now, the only way a game could be played there is if 1)they demolished the entire infield 2) build something elevate the playing field above all the infield buildings. IMO, neither are reasonable therefore it will never happen.

Bruton said he would knock all of that down if he had to.

it won't happen because Mike Hamilton isn't interested.

would he really be willing to somehow safely construct seats on the front and backstretches with risk of having to redo the racing surface though?

Being here in Raleigh and having to listen to these people (Wolfpack and Tar Holes) who think they are becoming football schools is an absolute joke. UNC fans are by far the worst, they have talked all sorts of smack about how they are a better program than we are now. I cannot wait for these series to begin.

Thank you! :good!: I am down here in the Charlotte area and I have to listen to both sides too. The Pack was not as vocal once USCe laid the wood to them, but the tar holes are something all together worse. Of course the tar hole fans lost all interest once b-ball season tipped off.

The ball game would be great. However, I would want to see how it all comes together. That is a lot money for one ball game.

Not this year they wouldn't. The Wolfpack sucked out loud earlier in the year. They were 1-5 or 1-6 before stepping it up and making it to a bowl game. I really believe that they'd whip us if we were to play them in a bowl game this year. Russell Wilson, the freshman QB was injured for most of the first half of their season. When he got well, the team really stepped it up a notch. I fully expect them to upset Rutgers in the Papajohns.com Bowl. What a stupid bowl game BTW.

Eh, they turned it on at the end of the season somewhat, but they still aren't that great of a team. I'm not saying Tennessee would beat them, but NC State isn't that good of a football team. They are getting better than the late Amato days but, they just aren't that good.
