I'm just hoping the info is true that Gruden could not coach in the NFL until 2016 because of the fact that he now has insights into the programs because of MNF. If that's true, then it has to be for college.

I'm really hoping this is all true and he is coming here. I hope the BOT makes the right decision.

If it's college I just don't see him going anywhere else then UT. Ex Vol players have confirmed he always wants to talk about UT football.

So, really, the key is the BOT meeting. What if a lot of us showed up the BOT meeting and made a stand? That would be interesting.

I just really hope change is made. I hate thinking our football program is held back and left to chance that we happen to find a up and coming coach who takes our program to the middle rankings for a few years until someone comes along and buys him out.

I want the best!

I thought some of the language of Gruden's contract as far as access to NFL teams prevents him from coaching in the league for a few years. Maybe I misread that?

That's the way I read it also.... :good!:

I have a friend off Cherry ST. that can get us a discount on mattresses to burn at the BOT meeting.

I too question the prohibition clause - I don't think any other announcer has ever had that. There have been plenty of ex-coaches who do color.

I really hope he's coming, but I'm not so sure it's college.

I think that message has been hammered home. The votes are likely already there or it wouldn't be on the agenda.

The guys that he's rumored to have contacted scream that he's going to coach in the NFL, not college. Just sayin...

Thats how I read it too. If so then he's contacting assistants for a college job. With him saying he would only coach 2 college teams and ND isnt going to be available.....

Do we actually have proof of the Notre Dame and Tennessee contract clause? Serious question because I have seen it mentioned several times but may have missed it.

I havent heard or seen about it in a clause, just heard he said it in an interview. I know he was and has been very passionate about UT and would take the job if it was open and im sure if the right amount of money for him, his assistants and whatever control he asks for. They better give the man whatever control he wants and let him get to work getting us competitive again.

I would think this means NFL.

Sources have said that Gruden's return to coaching is dependent on it being a perfect situation. He isn't interested in smaller-market teams like those he has coached at previously. Gruden wants a big-market team with good ownership and some talent on the roster. Thus, teams like Dallas, Philadelphia and the New York Jets could be potential
landing spots if they make a
change.

Of course you would say NFL. Screams college to me. The former DC turned offensive line coach in Philly will never be a DC in the NFL again. He would have another opportunity to prove himself as a DC at the college level, and use that as a springboard to another NFL DC job if he excels here. The special team coach has been wanting to come to the Vols, but couldn't get out of his contract. Yeah. Definitely screams NFL to me. *rolls eyes*
