Why on earth wouldn't we get him BEFORE NSD?

I don't think this is fair to UT prospects or Clemson prospects.

Kids deserve to know who their coordinators will be.

I agree, we would have a much better chance to get some of the top defensive recruits if they knew who their next DC is going to be.

My guess he wants to wait till after NSD out of respect for his current employer.

Sucks, but respectable....

Not really. Pretty much a lie to all those Clemson recruits on the defensive side.

It's a no-win really...but he should be honest with the kids BEFORE they sign on the dotted line.

How would you feel if your coach just up and left right before NSD. Wait...

It would be bad PR right now for UT. I think we have a DC booked. Go get those recruits.

Really he's hurting both Tennessee and Clemson. He's hurting us because we could be missing out on recruits. As for Clemson, he's lying to the players he's recruiting there, so it works both ways if you think about it.

I agree that it is a no win situation. If he is coming he should have just come on. It's not like it's their HC or anything.

If going to make a decision like that, he should be looking forward, and helping his future employer!! I know it sucks for Clemson, but this is just how it goes!!
You can bet the Vols were a distant afterthought to LK when he decided to go to fUSC!!
If Steele is going to be coming on as DC, he needs to do what it takes to make him successful here, and that means getting on with it, and getting the commitment of some top D talent!! Just my .02!!

I agree with this sentiment. They are trying to do what they think is right, but in reality a coach leaving sucks either way.

The players that are coming in to Clemson are going to be pissed if he takes off, but losing him now would probably mean some decommits.

On the flip side, Tennessee could gain some committs if he were to come now, but that isn't right either.

It is a no win for both sides...but more for the side that is losing the coach.
