Fellows made the following comments this week regarding the upcoming game
"I don't think Georgia has the best receivers we've seen," said Fellows, a freshman. "I think Louisiana Tech's are better."

Does anyone agree?

I personally believe that Georgia has the best pair of receivers that the Vols will face this season.

Sounds like Fellows is trying to psyche himself up for the game.

Here is how the teams receivers with 100+ yards on the season compare...

UNLV (1-4)
Earvin Johnson 32 rec, 375 yds, 3 tds
Alvin Marshall 10 rec, 148 yds, 0 tds

La Tech (3-2)
Tramissian Davis 10 rec, 223 yds, 0 tds
Johnathan Holland 8 rec, 161 yds, 0 tds
Julius Cosby 12 rec, 136 yds, 1 tds
Eric Newman 7 rec, 110 yds, 0 tds

Florida (3-1)
O.J. Small 23 rec, 273 yds, 2 tds
Chad Jackson 8 rec, 244 yds, 1 tds
Andre Caldwell 17 rec, 224 yds, 0 tds
Dallas Baker 14 rec, 169 yds, 3 tds

Georgia (4-0)
Reggie Brown 17 rec, 308 yds, 4 tds
Fred Gibson 17 rec, 248 yds, 2 tds

Tennessee (3-1)
Bret Smith 8 rec, 153 yds, 3 tds
Chris Hannon 12 rec, 135 yds, 0 tds
Tony Brown 10 rec, 134 yds, 1 tds
C.J. Fayton 7 rec, 113 yds, 2 tds
Jayson Swain 7 rec, 111 yds, 1 tds

Coach needs to implement a gag order for the entire team....
Looks like Greene and Co. will be having a 500+ yard passing day to show us they are "that good". When you start dominating, then maybe you can talk smack before a game... till then shut up and do your job. If you cant psyche yourself up for a game like this without giving them blackboard material to psyche THEM up, then you dont need to be one the team.

I agree Austin. I don't think Richt will use this as material but I am sure the players will get wind of it and take it personally. I think he may be in for a Looooong day.

Fellows may be related to the truth teller ...engaging his mouth without anything to back it up with... that quote may come back to bite him in the :shakeit:

Fulmer needs to get a lid on these young puppies, but it's not only the young ones who make the stupid comments.Remember Casey's comment last year. :shakehead:

Typically, a microphone anywhere in the vicinity of a college student is a bad thing.

Fellows is sooooo wrong. Those WRs are as good as advertised.

CPF's inability to keep a lid on his player's mouths is my biggest complaint about him as a coach- shut your mouth and take it to the field!

All Fellows has to do is prove that they are not the best

Well, I haven't heard much about it on the Sports Talk stations here in Atlanta.

As a matter of fact the general feeling of Bulldogs fans (while I know this does not necessarily reflect the feelings of the players, it probably does) is that the Tennessee game is only a formality to notching up another victory in the win column.

Every caller on the radio starts out "I'm not looking past Tennessee, but what about insert any of numerous topics here." Then goes on to talk about Winning the National Championship, Auburn, The SECCG, Breaking the Florida Streak, Richt is God, Greene should win the Heisman, Pollack-NFL Draft, or any number of other subjects but never about how we should be worried about the Vols this week.

The Georgia fans around here are actually feeling pity for us and are not even mentioning their 4 game winning streak, instead they are saying comforting things like "I'm really worried about how good those freshman QBs are going to be next year" and "we may not be as good next year after Greene and Pollack graduate".

I think if ever there was a time to catch Georgia taking the Vols less than serious it's this year.

honestly we didn't do much last week for them to take us seriosly, that could work to our advantage :cross:

I really hope the DAWGS dont see it as formality or we could be in for a big letdown.

As a group he may be right but as for the top 2 UGA's is the best. The point has been made tho tha he only see's receivers from the back after they have blown past him so his opinion is mute.

If I were an opposing team, I'd just take a knee on first and second down in order to set up third and long!

"I don't think Georgia has the best receivers we've seen," said Fellows, a freshman. "I think Louisiana Tech's are better."

Does anyone agree?

Actually, the Athens newspaper misquoted Fellows according to the Tennessean. His exact quote was:
''I don't think they are the best we have faced. I think Louisiana Tech's receivers are underrated. I think the Georgia receivers are very good and speedy, but I don't think they are the best receivers we have faced. I think Florida will be the best receiving corps overall that we will face this year.''

Here's the actual writeup from the Tennessean....

Phantom smack talk: A story in the Athens (Ga.) Banner-Herald on Tuesday quoted Fellows as saying that the Louisiana Tech receivers were better than Gibson and Brown.

The only problem is that's not what Fellows said when asked by Tennessee-based reporters if Gibson and Brown were the best receivers the Vols have faced this season. Tennessee players are not available on Mondays to out-of-town media.

His exact quote was: ''I don't think they are the best we have faced. I think Louisiana Tech's receivers are underrated. I think the Georgia receivers are very good and speedy, but I don't think they are the best receivers we have faced. I think Florida will be the best receiving corps overall that we will face this year.''

Still, the damage was done.

Georgia Coach Mark Richt was asked yesterday on the SEC teleconference about the Fellows quote that appeared in the Athens newspaper. Naturally, Richt seemed to eat it up.

''Yeah, that's good stuff,'' Richt said. ''That's the kind of stuff that you don't even have to post. You guys ask them about it and tell them about it, and there will probably be some pre-game hype on it and everything else. That's good stuff. That helps motivate our guys, for sure.''

Still, Fellows should have not opened his mouth, in my opinion. :(

No doubt!! One of the most demoralizing plays on defense Saturday night was when Auburn converted 3rd and 26 with a 40 yard gain.

Speaking of Fellows, can you get run over any worse than Fellows did on GA's last TD? I thought he was going to make the stop, and next thing I knew he was flying through the air parallel to the ground with his helmet coming off.
