Is Middleton a good recruiter? Does anyone know of any recruits he has signed? I remember him as a Redskin. He was a good blocking TE but did not catch a lot of balls.

Sounds like he is a good ST/TE coach, from what I have read. Not sure about the recruiting.

I really like Middleton, go get him Kiffin!

DURHAM -- Duke had just forced a huge turnover on Saturday at Vanderbilt. Sophomore Eddie Morgan jumped on a blocked kick. The Blue Devils were now sitting pretty and feeling good, deep in Commodores territory.

Morgan sprinted off the field ready for the sideline celebration only to find Duke special teams coordinator Ron Middleton giving him the business.

"He got pretty mad at me for diving on the ball," Morgan said. "He said I should have scooped it up and scored instead of just jumping on it. He was right. It's the little things that make a difference."

Morgan was making a point about how demanding Middleton and specialists coach Zac Roper can be, an attitude that has yielded a much-improved Duke special teams unit in 2008.

"He demands perfection," Morgan said of Middleton, who is the only coach on staff to carry the assistant head coach tag. "He wants everything cut, clean and crisp. He always says you can win the game on special teams."
