Thought I'd start a thread about my favorite pup! 😄 He had his monthly check in appointment today and it went great. Hard to believe he started having his collapsing issues last March and being diagnosed with anemia.

Went from sick pup:

After diagnosis, he was put on 3 meds and then they quickly reduced, eliminated 1 med and he relapsed in the summer. Since then they put him back on all 3 and very slowly reduced each. Vet is ready to reduce 1 completely again. Instead of a monthly check in, we will take Rocky back in 2 weeks to see how he does without the 1 med.

Please keep him in your thoughts. It is scary that we really have to watch him to make sure he does okay. Each time they relapse it gets harder and harder to come back from. I'm optimistic he can come off the meds since other dogs have just fine, and that is the goal so that they don't cause such damage to the organs from use. Just scary since he relapsed before.

So much going on with our vn families, but this pup is my boy!

We have a grandcat with a similar sort of weird anemia, and he's going through the same thing as Rocky. Three+ years later, still on meds, he's healthy as a horse and still a PITA. (I call him Zoolander, because he's really beautiful, and really, really, dumb.)

Go Rocky!!!

He is a bluetick beagle. Everyone asks what he is since he isn't tricolored and taller than most beagles but he is full beagle!

Rocky had the same exact numbers as last time, is at a 44 with the reducing of the 1 medication. They now want to reduce another one by half and come back in two weeks. Voiced our concerns about moving too fast, but they still want us to move forward with the reduction and if he has issues we could bring him back in sooner. No duh. Testing my frustration level. Happy that he did good today though.
