Rocky Top (Our Identity)

I agree, those are all recognizable songs, but Rocky Top takes it to another level as far as an identity.
I completely agree.

This is probably the right place to mention that my Dad died about a month ago. I bring it up because we basically pranked the entire congregation at the end of his funeral so that a crowd deep in the heart of GA would all be standing as a captive audience when the family exited as a bluegrass band absolutely crushed it playing Rocky Top. It was a glorious moment on a sad day.

That’s a great memorable story, love it. So sorry about your dad, I’m sure it’s been tough.

I agree, but there are a lot of recognizable ones. Some just arent as branded as Rocky Top seems to be.

Hail to the Victors
Tiger Rag
Glory
Victory March
Boomer Sooner

I only know what 1 school is..... I am a pretty avid college football fan. Rocky Top is the best.

Woo will always be in the stadium. It’s great for carrying energy of the fans. It’s really strange that some people don’t like it. Makes me wonder if they go to games and actually cheer with the fans in the stands

All i know about the woo is that its beginning correlates with the start of the downfall of the program. Maybe it aint causation but damned if it dont make me not like hearing it.

So i am very anti woo.

There's a small group of us alums in the Bay Area. We call our alma mater "Tennessee" but we occasionally say RockyTop. I recall watching a MNF game last year and a player introduce himself and school with "RockyTop". I don't remember who it was.

Trying to remember a time when we weren't considered "Rocky Top". Might be that I've just taken it for granted?

I LOVE Rocky Top when it's played in Neyland Stadium by the POTSB and 100,000 fans are screaming it.

I HATE Rocky Top when I hear it on the radio, played with banjos and sung by people who sound like they didn't get past the 3rd grade.

So you hate the correct instrumentation and southern accents?

Have you met a rugby playing banjo picking UT fan out there? I forget his name, but dude is HUGE.

USAToday Loves Us!!

ESPN can well, you know, you know how the rest of this saying goes. It includes teeth chomping together tightly and the English word for moi.

The song is an embarressment, for 21st century vol fans! Down the field much better! Does it have lyrics? I play in a blues/oldies band in the Tri-cities and Rocky Top is our most requested song 🤔
I tried to find a puke emoji. So cornpone, hillbilly, redneck, hehaw sounding music. I like hot women and moonshine, but damn, I wish we could do better for representing our Vols musically!
It really is a waste of the Pride of the Southland's talent!

I respect your opinion, others have expressed the same views. For me, I absolutely love Rocky Top and I’m proud it’s associated with the Vols. I also love our official fight song, Down The Field.
