Icing is when a team in behind their zone blue line and hits the puck past the goal blue line.

Griz are fun to watch. They are a pretty solid team that plays the old 80-90 style of ball. They are only lacking a 3 point shooter to be a championship contending team, but the are on annual playoff team

Actually the teams 3-point shooting last year was the best its been since they became a franchise. They have a young kid from VCU named Troy Daniels(Plus Conley, Vince, and Surprisingly Gasol) who is cold-blooded from behind the arc. I'm afraid the Chandler Parsons addition my hold the franchise back for years if he doesn't start producing.

I was stunned there were that many Vols fans there, or at least people wanting to sing the song.

There is no Official or Unofficial fight song that is as famous or infamous as "Rocky Top".

When "Rocky Top " is played everybody knows the drill.

Go Vols!

Go Preds!

I'm officially a "bandwagon" Preds fan and I don't care what you think.

I knew absolutely ZERO about hockey until a couple months ago. The Preds' success got me interested in watching and now it's probably my favorite sport behind football. Go Preds, Go Vols, & Rocky Top TENNESSEE!

Lol, I have a best friend who swears he's into reincarnation. His only issue is does he come back as J-Lo's or one of the beach volleyball chicks thongs?? He struggles with it to this very day.

I was never a fan of the "woo". It was as if everybody was so impatient they couldn't just allow for 1 second of not singing something and had to fill that very brief musical pause with an unnecessary and annoying "woo"...cuz gawd forbid we have even the slightest moment of NOT singing something. Plus the fact the original Rocky Top did not have such a "woo" nor was there intended to be one. Call me a traditionalist. BUT...now I like it and embrace it...so I say "woo" on.

I became a hockey fan back in the 1970's when Channel 26 in Knoxville would show either a live or tape delayed Philadelphia Flyers game every Sunday afternoon during hockey season.
The Predators going all the way to The Stanley Cup Final makes the football offseason shorter. Go Preds! GBO!!!

I definitely consider Chattanooga to be East Tennessee. The western part of it I suppose, but definitely East Tennessee.

East Tennessee comprises approximately the eastern third of the U.S. state of Tennessee, one of the three Grand Divisions of Tennessee defined in state law. East Tennessee consists of 33 counties, 30 located within the Eastern Time Zone and three counties in the Central Time Zone, namely Bledsoe, Cumberland, and Marion.[1] East Tennessee is entirely located within the Appalachian Mountains, although the landforms range from densely forested 6,000-foot (1,800*m) mountains to broad river valleys. The region contains the major cities of Knoxville, Chattanooga and Johnson City, Tennessee's third, fourth and ninth largest cities, respectively.

Rocky Top is one of the official Tennessee state songs. Yes it is associated with UT but it is also associated with the entire state.

Yes, it is. And it is one of our state songs BECAUSE it is the unofficial fight song of the Tennessee Volunteers.

Tennessee is a thoroughly orange state, from the guys who pass the laws (and pick the state songs) in Nashville all the way around all 95 counties. Well, maybe not Shelby County. Never lived there. Heard it's pretty hard over for Memphis and Ole Miss.

Totally agree. You do get mixed support at the borders but some of them are not really Tennessee natives but folks that live in the bordering state (e.g. a lot folks in North Georgia work, shop, et al in Chattanooga). It makes it seem like there is less support for UT when it is really more related to the fact that Chattanooga (like Memphis) borders 2 other states.

I always figure that some were over come with enthusiasm they couldn't help but to say woo much like saying wee at a moment of excitement like a little piggy all the way home from the market.

I don't mind those that refuse to say woo, it's the ones that want to cross their arms and act like there is something wrong with those that are over come with joy due to hearing Rocky Top.

Rocky Top is played after every Vol TD, woo and wee are appropriate to the circumstance.

"The Nature Boy" Rick Flaire validated the woo back in the day.

I'm a Grizzlies season ticket holder and while it's a gritty style they play, it definitely fits the mentality of Memphis.

I disagree that the Grizzlies are only a shooter away from contention. The problem with the NBA is that there's only 4 teams that have any type of chance to win the title (and based on how the Warriors are playing now, I may be overstating that by 2 or 3 teams). Even if the Parsons acquisition worked out, the Grizzlies ceiling would be a second round pest to SA or GSW.

Small market teams have to nail the draft and free agency. Chris Wallace has consistently missed the draft and th7e Parsons acquisition will set the franchise back 5 years since they have no flexibility to add players the next 3 years.

Griz have a solid core. Im not saying they are beating GS unless they pull some luck but they would contend, as in at least be a viable threat in the playoffs. The Grizz played pretty good against GS this season.

Ive never been to a game but watch almost all their games on tv. I thought i was going to get to go after running the St. Jude marathon last year but had church commitments and had to drive back home after the run. But man i felt like a little kid again i was so excited. Hopefully ill get up there this coming season.
