Interesting little tidbit....reading the Nov. 15th issue of ESPN the Magazine and they have a list of the Top Downloaded Fight Song Ringtones (Verizon Network)

1. Rocky Top (Tennessee)
2. Yea Alabama (Alabama)
3. Notre Damn Victory March (ND)
4. The Victors (Michigan)
5. Glory, Glory (Georgia)
6. Aggie War Hymn (Texas A&M)

Rocky Top is NOT our fight song. We have two fight songs. "Fight Vols Fight" and "Down the Field". I hate those that are misinformed as badly as ESPN the magazine. I also hate the woo in it too. I wish the university would ban Rocky Top. They both even sound better, or you and countless others can keep on being rednecks.Southeastern Conference College Football Fight Songs Music

I know its not the official fight song but it is the most publically afiliated song with the University

Like I said. Keep on being rednecks and throwing that "woo" in there. The rest of the country still keeps making fun of you. I know they won't ban it but I can hope.

Dont blame the fans or ESPN, since its the AD and the Band. Who's fault is it that the band plays Rocky Top 100 times a game? Start a PR campaign to educate all the hicks and others around the country.

I guess I am a redneck then and d*mn proud of it. Not ashamed of anything UT(except BB gun robberies, fights on the strip, excessive texting, and certain cookouts). You might as well find a new team because if you think you are ever gonna get rid of "Rocky Top" and it being considered one of our fight songs by most people, you are sadly mistaken.

You are correct in that RT is not an official fight song- it is however classified as our unofficial fight song and it is used by the band as a fight song.
The way it is used would lead most to assume that RT is our main (official) fight song, not just rednecks. And considering I don't particularly like country music, I don't hunt and very rarely fish, and I'm about a semester away from finishing a masters degree in computer science, I'm pretty sure the fact that I like RT (including the woo) does NOT make me a redneck.

I understand your stance, and we are all allowed to have and express them, but please realize that when you generalize like that, you look like a dumb ***.
