In times like this and the believes of this current administration towards socialized medicine, etc., I think of this qoute by Benjamin Franklin. Think about it!!
"Those who would give up an essential liberty for temporary security, deserve neither liberty or security"[/QUOTE]
This quote could not exemplify the Bush administration and supporters of the Patriot Act any more.
My point exactly! I have heard everything from him being the Black Messiah to the savior of America. The fact remains that he is a Politician and he will do as politicians do. It will be statis quo in Washington. As long as we divide ourselves along party lines, nothing will be done to benefit the ordinary citizen. These people benefit from lobbyist money and will vote their agenda, regardless of how unpopular it is with the average American. They are there to represent us and not their own special interest. Until we demand that, things will not change. Man!! I got to stop with the caffeine!!
Coming from a Pride alum, was the audio just not very good on that clip or have they messed with the arrangement? It sounded like it was pretty chopped up. Just wondering!
No, Dr. Sousa has decided that stacatissimo is the best way to preserve projection and tone quality. All note lengths are now super-short.

Well, it was changed to longer note lengths as opposed to very staccato. It allows for the melody to be more clear. The cold somewhat affected the tone, surely.
And we played a combination of Rocky Top, Cadence, then Fight, Vols Fight/Down the Field. There was no Tennessee Waltz March.
I could think of a lot of other places that I would rather them play Rocky Top at other than at the inauguration to the new socialist party!!!!
We had it good to stay at the DoubleTree Hotel that year, you should have been there for Dr. Julian's years and the joke that became of the "We are staying at the Harrington, it's a fine hotel" statements. I believe the running joke was "Did George Washington sleep here?" "No, but I heard he wired the place."Thanks for taking time to piss on what has been an experience of a lifetime for those of us who have had the opportunity to participate in one of the greatest recurring events in all of democracy.
I had the opportunity to march in the 1997 Clinton Inaugural parade. It is an experience I will never forget. Out of hundreds of thousands of college band students, only a select few have the opportunity every four years to set foot on the national stage and perform for one of the largest and most influential audiences anywhere.
Regardless of who was sworn in earlier that and whether or not I agreed with the choice, I will gladly tell my children and grandchildren about the time I spent in front of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue playing for the President of the United States. I will not let anyone belittle that memory for m and you should not belittle it for anyone else.

Not to toot my own horn, but there was more UT involvement yesterday. I had the opportunity to be the disembodied voice announcing the platform ceremony. Of course, no one knew who I was, but the Washington Post did an article and mentioned that I had attended UT.![]()
Its funny people can't even celebrate the UT band playing at a prestigious event without some gomer pyles sticking their ignorant political two cents worth in. Great day for those kids anyway!
