Or 9, 11, 12, or 14 if the last play is a pick 6.

Or 4, 7, or 10 if the last play is a safety.

Or 1 if the team leading by 3 gets a turnover and takes an intentional (or unintentional) safety on the last play.

Are safeties allowed in overtime?

They are, yes. By rule.

On the other hand, I don't think a safety has ever been scored in overtime of a college game. Has one?

Not a one point safety. There's only been two of those in NCAA history based on a quick Google search.

Neither a one-point nor a two-point, I think. Not in overtime.

They're allowed by rule, but I don't remember ever seeing one happen in overtime.

Depending on how West Virginia is ranked at the beginning of the year, a win over them might do the trick. If they are top 15 I think it would rock a lot of people.

Beating Bama would still be stunning. First year head coach that's taking over a program in major needs of repair, after the coaching search/Grumors/Butch/etc, AND our coach comes from Alabama. It's gonna be a huge one. As long as we stay close it'll be good, a win will be shocking yes, but maybe Pruitt and company can pull it off. You know he wants to 😎

But I agree with WV. That's gonna set the the stage being a big game. I think we're gonna win it but if we don't, then either we fail flopping around as sitting ducks again OR Pruitt goes into hyper overdrive and pulls out some crazy wins later in the season.
