Former Houston Rockets star Robert Reid dies at 68 after battle with cancer

Wasn’t a Rockets fan, but I liked him for some odd reason back when I followed the NBA ardently. He was their answer to Magic, but Bird never failed to light him up.

I remember him. His last name was spelled Reed.
He died at 59 in 1992.

RR was just before my time, but still too young.

His wiki page says he retired 4 years into his NBA career for better observation of his pentecostal beliefs. Only lasted a year and came back.

The Houston team that Robert played on in 1981 was a lunch pail group led by Moses Malone.

Billy Paultz played on that team Bill Laimbeer type .
