Quote from Neyland Jr. on his Dad:

“He was a hard-nosed coach,” Neyland Jr. said of the General. “He emphasized being tough and would say frequently before we went out on the field that ‘resolution and determination – that’s what’s going to win for you today’.

“He was tough and firm and by and large his players respected him and liked him.”

This is a cool article. Thanks for it, Titans.

I didn't realize that the General's son was still so closely following the program. Really happy to hear that he is.

I had the opportunity to meet and talk with Robert Jr. a long time ago. He was working at a bank client of mine in Kingsport in a very responsible job. Nice guy!

He told me that his Dad didn't play him much because he didn't want to be accused of favoritism. I have always heard that Robert Jr. was a really good player who would have made headlines somewhere else. He follows the Vols closely and knows a lot about football.
