I thought the place looked like they could care less. Looked boring to me. No one is doing dunks that have never been seen before anymore. Please note that I understand that these young men are talented and have a special skill. With that being said, I still have never been fascinated with people that dunk who are 6'5" or taller.

Dunking aside, can he play defense and take care of the ball. Dunking contests do not win ball games.

Hubbs is sick but CPA has 2 kids on the rise. Jalen lindsey 2014, and a freshman Braxton
Blackwell. If CCM can get both of them, UT BB will be relevant again. But Drew Maddox is coach lol. Cal is recruiting lindsey and blackwell is better. He might be #1 prospect by the time hes a senior, hes that good

Blackwell is as good if not better than Lindsey already...Blackwell could honestly be the next Durant if he continues to progress. He's 6'6" as a freshman, so hes ready used to his size and is so smooth, he gets up to 6'9 6'10" he's gonna be ridiculous.

Cuonzo was one of, if not the first to offer...hopefully that helps.

Eh these are 17 year old kids cut them a break. Some of those dunks were better than what was in the nba dunk contest.

I did say they are talented and have a special skill. My observations are what they are. As for the dunk contest itself, all dunk contests are boring. To me they are. I did not say anything bad about any of the players.
What I did say is I don't get a thrill watching someone who is 6'6" dunk. That is 78 inches tall plus arm length of 39 inches. That is a total of 117 inches (a goal is 120 inches @ 10 ft). So we are celebrating what?

That is like going on and on about how awesome a midget is at limbo! Man look how low he can go! Wow!

How tall are you? I'm gonna guess you don't have a 40" vertical.

6'2". And that is a negative on the vertical for sure. There was a time in my life when I could dunk and did dunk. I will agree that a 40 inch vertical is impressive. I guess it is more that it feels like it has all been done before. I remember watching Jordan jump from the free throw line and the power of Dominique W. Again, it is not on the players, it is the dunk competition. I think a basic power dunk in a game, over someone is much more interesting than a between the legs, off the backboard, eyes closed, wearing a cape dunk in a dunk contest is. By the looks of the people in that gym and there "enthusiasm", I would say they agree.

Also, I am more impressed with the guy from the small school a few years ago that was 5'10" or so that was in it. Remember Spud Webb? Whoa! Someone like that, competing against the giants is impressive to me.

Brosef, not trying to give you too much ish, but you prob can't touch the net/ever could. That being said, give these young kids some respect. It's not meant to be a barometer for how good of a basketball player you are, just a chance for people to come watch some cool dunks and have a good time.

Brosef, nice. Ha ha. I could dunk. Actually pinned a guy against the backboard from Memphis Melrose in substate who tried to dunk on me. My points have nothing to do with my abilities. I never spoke poorly of anyone in the contest. All I said was that it was not my thing and it did nothing for me. Never said it was a barometer for how good a player was. Go back and look at my previous posts. It was just my take on dunk contests in general. My take alone. Not asking for approval from anyone or agreement. There is no right or wrong on this. My view is mine and your view is yours. I respect your view on the matter and will not try to sway your point or belittle you by making a personal attack. Just conversation.

We don't suffer from a lack of talent now. Coaching does make a difference. It takes coaching plus recruiting to make a team relevant. When a TV announcer tells the world we have to correct our pick and roll defense ( and he was right) and we come out in the second half doing the same thing as the first half we have a coaching problem. I like and respect CCM but he was not ready to coach at UT. We have NC expectations now. Pearl made us want a NC and believe we could get there. CCM can't deliver it .

Has anyone ever heard him mention an assistant's name in thanks for a gameplan???? NO. But pearl used to thank Tony and the others all the time. Gameplans that were different for different teams.

Heck, we will be idiots if either Pearl or Tony is not our next HC. I hope I get a surprise next year. We will have the players for a good run, but I am afraid it will not happen.

Unless someone's arms grows on top of their head, it wouldn't be 117 inches high.

I get what you are saying though, it is not as impressive as someone shorter. But some of these kids are jumping up and hitting their heads on the rim, that is impressive.

Ha. I know, I was thinking about the measurements and how to account for the chest. Then I thought about stretching one arm up and being on one leg and all that. Anyway, I realize it was not perfect.

Some of the guys leaping ability is incredible. There are some amazing athletes. Hitting your head on the rim or kissing the rim is crazy.
